Unabridged
A brand-new production of Andy Weir’s modern sci-fi classic, narrated by the incomparable Wil Wheaton, and featuring bonus content from the writings of Mark Watney.
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.
After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.
But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills - and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit - he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?
Wil Wheaton, who has lent his voice to sci-fi blockbusters like Ready Player One and Redshirts, breathes new life (and plenty of sarcasm) into the iconic character of Mark Watney, making this edition a must-listen for both longtime fans of The Martian and new listeners alike.
BONUS MATERIAL: This edition includes the following extras:
“Diary of an AssCan” - Mark Watney, new astronaut
“I Made It!” - A happy letter to Mom
“Car Trouble” - A somewhat sad letter to Mom
“The Earthling” - A postscript. *Available for the first time in this recording

Thank you for sharing this (and re-uploading).

I like Wheaton, but Bray was spectacular. Can’t believe they used someone else.

This is one of the best Syfy audiobooks when it comes to storytelling and having some basis in reality. The movie does not even come close to the audiobook 9 out of 10 EZ.

Loved this book and wills a good narrator but I like rc brey, he’s more expressive

Nothing against Wil Wheaton, but why on earth would they make another version form the one that R.C. Bray did? Bray absolutely CRUSHED it in his version. As he does with everything that he narrates.
Trust me. Get the R.C. Bray version.

Yes…why would anyone want to listen to this version when you already have the most awesome narrator R.C. Bray reading it? I mean Will Wheaton wasn’t as annoying as I had thought but he is not anywhere near the level of R.C. Bray…not even close…..I don’t understand why we get relatively recent books re-narrated, I get re-narrating ones for back in the days of books on tape/CD where the production value was not as great as it can be today, R.C. Bray’s reading is from 2014 and is magnificent…. get this one instead https://audiobookbay.lu/audio-books/the-martian-re-performed-new-ending-2014-andy-weir/

Wil Wheaton? Oh EWWWWWW! His voice sounds like moist maxi pads. Bleh!

They added in a few short stories, so I’ll eventually give it a listen for that reason, but it seems like they could’ve easily asked Bray to narrate the additional material.
The Bray version is no longer on Audible, hopefully they’ll add it back.

The reason has nothing to do with Bray, or the book. Scifi has always been the easiest genre to manipulate and exploit. Like it or not, Wil is still a part of that world and keeps it that way, by hitting every convention & appearance, he can. So they use him as an attempt to draw the untapped portion of the genre, mostly tv and movie followers in an attempt to cash in 1 more time. I don’t like it nor approve the method, the only way I tolerate it, is the chance it will help increase audiobooks as a whole and to push it a bit closer to audiobooks becoming a true viable option to print and yes I am being selfish and everything I have said, is simply IMHO. This is a general opinion and not a criticism of anything posted. I agree with everything I have seen and there is no comparison between RC and whatever Wil manages. Again imho
Thank you for the up and sorry for the rant

Not sure where you got that from Wedis, if you go to Andy Weir’s Instagram you will find the reason why. He recently left Podium Publishing and went to Amazon - negotiations between the two parties fell over due to money and thus Amazon decided to re-record. They then failed to agree terms with RC Bray after which they gave up and got WW to record it instead.

I enjoyed Rosario Dawson’s recitation of Artemis. Yeah, I know it isn’t the same book or the same situation. However, it is kinda cool.

well, only HALF of the book - that’s a bummer

I love Wheaton, by RC’s reading of this was definitive.

I think RC is pretty good, but he definitely doesn’t strike me as the godsend that everyone seems to think.

Thank you so much

Sorry for the people complaining a lot and for the ones shaming or criticizing Wheaton, but frankly, i have tried both and i could use the Bray one as a sleeping pill, Wheaton added a fun touch to my listening experience and that from the very first line of the book.
And for jadedrogue73, it is an unabridged version.
