This version has been transferred from audio cassette, as currently the digital audiobook is only available as a 3 hour abridged version. Tape has undergone slight targeted hiss reduction and volume normalization. WARNING there are a handful of damaged spots that result in some flutter. Even on my best deck I couldn’t get it to play smoothly. But I figured a few minutes of bad audio wasn’t outweighed by this version being hard to come by; it’s vanishingly rare on the secondhand market.

Thanks for the rare upload.
Could someone please re-encode at 32K it is a cassette source it cant be high quality.
I don’t have the bandwidth to download 7 hour books that are 800MB.

A Cassette sourse can be high quality, but encoding in 32 from a cassette with quality issues is a mistake.
You can always upload a small file one for those that want it, but always go the highest you can within reason depending on the recording.
I used to just upload FLAC files. There are those with discerning ears where all the sounds that don’t bother some make a recording impossible to listen to.

I’ve had this conversation on some of my other uploads, but basically my philosophy boils down to this: it is better to be offered higher quality that can be re-encoded down to preference than to be stuck with lower quality than you’d prefer.
Personally, I can’t stand the tinny, crunchy sound of audio compression. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. And I am privileged in that I don’t have to worry about storage space or bandwidth, so I simply set the encoder to “high” and don’t worry about whether the file is bloated.
I am sorry for those for whom that is a concern, especially bandwidth. I was told previously not to put multiple versions in the same upload. I wasn’t sure about uploading multiple versions, but if people want, I could render out some lower bitrate MP3s and upload those.

I think what is important is to have as few torrents as possible. The more there are the less likely they will stay seeded.
A 64K would likely be best.
