Book 4 is the same (Todd Boyce) but book 1-3 is new (NOT tape) (Stephen Bel Davies)
Personally I must say that this series was a very positive surprise for me and I highly recomend it.
Seemed a bit “weird” in the begining before “I got it” then it grew on me.
Since then I have listened to it several times, not many books I do that with.
Book 1 Liege Killer
Two hundred years after Earth is devastated by nuclear war and genetically engineered Paratwa assassins, the humans of orbiting Earth colonies are at peace, until a series of murders reveal the reemergence of the Paratwa.
Book 2 Ash Ock
A quarter of a millennium ago, before the nuclear apocalypse forced the inhabitants of earth to flee their home planet, few humans could have imagined the course their path would take. Now, the orbital colonies are the final sanctuary of humanity and life is more dangerous than ever before. The colonists fear the return of their dreaded enemies, the Paratwa ferocious warriors who are genetically engineered to exist in two bodies, which remain telepathically connected. The new generation of Paratwa is far deadlier than the old, forming a powerful caste of fighter known as the Ash Ock. A mysterious virus infecting the humans database signals the return of their most feared enemies
Book 3 The Paratwa
The human race is forced to band together when it is revealed that the dreaded Paratwa, bio-assassins who once gutted the Earth, are returning with a new technology to enslave all of humankind, and the planet’s only hope is a rogue Paratwa.
Book 4 Binary Storm
Even if this is a prequel in the timeline this is the publishing order and how the story was told by the author.

Thing is
For me…
If it is a good story you get “in the zone” so really the audio matters less.
It is not like listening to music…
My problem is more if I get annoyed at the narrators voice…
Then it gets “stuck in my mind” and I have problems of “letting go” EVEN if the story is good.
Yeah psycho stuff… I am working on it…

Must say the “old recordings” are ok for me, if the story is good I get in “The Zone” then the quality does not really matter.
The problem I have (even with good stories) is if I get hung up on the narrators “squeky voice” or something, then I have problems letting it go.
Yeah I know “Psycho stuff” I am working on it…
One could say… the better the story the worse Audio is acceptable… since you wont notice after a while.
This aint music.

I listened to “Robots and Empire”, read by Pam Ward, recorded from a cassette player with bad “stereo” separation … and I loved it.
Old cassette rips with male narrators, like John Polk, always remind me of “Ye olde Disney documentary about ye wilde lion roaming the African savanna”. So yes, it is not only about the technical quality :-D

Yeah ““Robots and Empire”, read by Pam Ward” is a bad recording.
As far as I know it is the only available recording.
Must be a copyright thing, it really deserves a “rework”
But still the story do carry it.

This site have 2 different “sections”
You have to register in the “Request Section” (Forum)
Find it in the menu on the top of this window.
