  You should list the individual book titles in the description so that they can be found via search

  If you created the m4b’s from MP3 - as your last comment seems to indicate that - it would be nice if the description told that. People might else assume these are “lossless, straigt from Inaudible” m4b’s. Some info on the bitrate would be nice too :)

  Oh, and if you use uTorrent (or another torrent client that allows you to): turn on “initial seeding/superseeding” if you did not already - especially for a torrent this large. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-seeding

  Disclaimer: I did not load the non-scifi series “Unspeakable Things” and “Haven”; everything below is about the SciFi stuff :)

  First, everyone should know that these are mostly re-encodes from other rips, NOT straight-from-audible.
  Some (like the Undying Mercenaries, still in mp3) have been released alike on ABB before.
  For the MP4 files - due to the re-encode to MP4 AAC (vbr), a slight quality loss can not be avoided. For to a close-to-transparent conversion to VBR AAC, most have mostly increased in filesize compared to MP3s.
  The quality however does vary greatly throughout - because the MP4 are made from sources of varying quality. Some books are of great quality, others are edgeing on ‘hard to bear’.
  Almost none of the M4B contains chapter marks, with the few exceptions I will list below (which seem to be genuine Audible>Inaudible conversions, with no back-and-forth-conversion)

  Chapterized, Audible>Inaudible rips (all by dear whackbag)
  - Undying Mercenaries 08 Blood World
  - Rebel Fleed 02 - Orion Fleet
  - Rebel Fleet 03 - Alpha Fleet
  - Galactic Liberation 03 - Flagship Victory

  TLDR:
  Thanks for all the work, waterskier68, but sorry - this is not the ultimate Larson Collection some (including me) might have hoped for.
  However, if you’re not about getting the best quality out there, don’t mind wheter a book sounds great or 32kbps-ish, and have no issue with one-file-for-13+hours, go for it anyway!

  Sorry it’s not to everyone’s liking. I’m new to uploading. I just like my audiobooks neat and tidy easy one file upload to my iPod. I used audiobookbinder to transform into m4b. I don’t know whats the best settings so I just left it at the default. Any comments are appreciated as I’m just learning…cheers

  And I am sure some users will like it exactly like you did it.
  It’s not your fault that no better sources were at hand. It’s just that if we read “m4b”, our ears water, so to say, because it usually means: audiobook in the quality as provided by Audible (lossless decryptions via ‘Inaudible’ to m4b, containing chapter marks etc.) - and we hoped that you might have obtained those :D.
  Maybe, in the future - to avoid confusion about that - you could note that you reencoded the m4b files from other sources via audiobookbinder.

  as for m4b, I use my laptop with windows media player & though if I take the time to tell it to accept m4b (I guess it will play) I instead turn them into m4a to load right up.
  If I leave them as m4b will I have chapter marks on real m4b audios?
  I have windows 10 now & being 100% disabled the last 11-13 years I have forgotten exactly how windows 98 used to do it but I was able to change the herz & other characteristics about any audio files I had then but have no idea how to try to upgrade them with windows 10 x64. I think I used to have Audacity but can no longer find it on my computer, I do have Cyberlink WaveEditor 2 (If it is any good for upgrading 32kbps audios to 128kbps or 256kbps (I have 8 portable HDD’s at 2-4TB each so plenty of room for good recordings) or if it is usable for listening to m4b please let me know)that came with my purchased Powerdvd 17 & Power2Go 11 platinum or some such whatever the best I could find around Christmas was.

  1) you should join the forum for questions like this :)
  2) Windows media player should play mp4 with chapter marks just fine. Or use the popular VLC media player. I personally use foobar.
  Almost all of the m4b in this particular torrent are “user-made” without embedded chapter marks though.
  3) You cannot “upgrade” audios to a higher bitrate. You cannot improve the audible quality beyond what your source is. If you reencode them with a higher bitrate, all you get is bigger files - not better sounding ones. But maybe I misunderstood your question.

If people are unhappy with them, then they should go to Audible and purchase them…how and why people complain about something that is free is beyond me.
