Great series! Descriptions of some of the virtual worlds are amazing - especially Oz and The House :)
Anything by Tad Williams is awesome - currently re-listening to the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn and Ostenard trilogies

Excellent series. The ending is a little soft for the main plot, but the other plots tie up quite nicely. The first book came out in 1996 and Tad’s vision of the future hits true several times. We don’t have a VR version of the net and we also don’t have NIC interfaces with out nervous systems, but we do have VR games and apps along with actually usable VR gear, tablet computers are everywhere, pop culture is absurd af, EVs are mainstream, corporations have far too much power, and the richest people on earth are as corrupt as ever. The characters are believable and relatable, the cast is diverse and global, and the stories/plots pull you you and make you feel invested. If you liked Ready Player One or anime such as SAO, Overlord, or .hack//sign this is far better than those - do yourself a favor and read this series.
