Humor and polemics from one of America’s most quotable pundits. A call for renewal and a howl of laughter and derision at the woke mob that seeks to stand in the way of a great nation’s patriotic resurgence. Fans of Mark Levin, Matt Walsh, and Ben Shapiro will love it!

In 1991, the smoldering ruins of Saddam Hussein’s regime testified to America’s unchallenged might. Having defeated one of the world’s largest armies in a matter of days, the United States looked forward to a new century of peace and prosperity.
30 years later, a ragtag Taliban chased us out of Afghanistan in a humiliating rout. At home, our cities are cesspools of homelessness and crime. The former land of opportunity seems to be in irreversible decline.
How did we suffer such an unimaginable fall? And is our current impotence permanent? With his trademark wit, Kurt Schlichter—warrior, lawyer, and commentator—makes a compelling case that America’s decline is not irreversible.
No Pollyanna, he offers a sobering catalogue of the dangers ahead, from subjugation to China to the poverty of socialism. Even civil war. But Schlichter was among the U.S. forces that took down the tyrant of Iraq in 1991. Having seen American greatness in action and appreciating the virtues that produced it, he knows that decline is a choice—a choice that we need not make.
Sometimes mordant, often humorous, always incisive, Schlichter shows that our resilience is far from spent. American society is uniquely blessed with the ingredients of greatness. A push-back is coming. Schlichter offers no guarantees but something more important—hope.

Yes, the Left hates Trump, but its hatred is really for us. In its hive mind, we have no right to rule ourselves, no moral standing to defy the pagan god of Progressivism. And, as with other religious fanatics, anything leftists choose to do is therefore justified if it serves their perverted vision of the greater good by bringing us heathens to heel.

That cover image makes me feel as though I’m being Kurtly fired.

Why? Just, WHY? Surely you have a delete key.
Thanks for sharing, I guess. Pretty sure my IQ dropped just reading the description! They say it’s the thought that counts, but I’m having a hard time believing any thought went into this book, or it’s being shared. Oh well, have a nice day, can only get better from here!

Avoid,avoid,avoid!!!

I don’t even bother to read the descriptions now. I just do a search for the word “woke” and if it’s present, I know who wrote it and what they’re whinging like their diaper-wearing tangerine overlord about.

I love how all you Lefties immediately dismiss a book without even listening to it. You’re so comfortable in your little echo-chambers that anything that might challenge your narrow-minded belief system is automatically dismissed. Try listening to something that you will challenge your mind-set. You may learn something.

A guy who thinks the invasion of Iraq was the epitome of American greatness….
“The woke mob who stands in the way of a patriotic resurgence”. You mean, by winning elections?

@Gweilo
> A guy who thinks the invasion of Iraq was the epitome of American greatness…
Maybe it’s because the guy is entitled to think whatever he wants, pretty much like anybody else in a free country? (just a wild guess).
> “The woke mob who stands in the way of a patriotic resurgence”. You mean, by winning elections?
IMO, your political side did not exactly “win” the last election, later it was not even ashamed to admit it “fortified” it (which is a nice euphemism for “stealing”), more details can be found here:

what a bizarre choice for a cover photo

@alnilam
You’re right, the guy is entitled to think what he wants, and we’re entitled to point and laugh, which is what we’re doing. Suck it up, buttercup.

@grond2
“You may learn something.”
Only those suffering from severe chromosomal dismay could (arguably) learn anything from this putz. Just look at him.
July 17th, 2022
@alnilam:
“the guy is entitled to think whatever he wants”
Of course he is. Why do you imply I said otherwise?
“euphemism for “stealing” [elections]”
FFS. Bill Barrand the DOJ investigated all the claims, concluded it was “bullsh1t”. 60 courts threw out every case because there WAS NO EVIDENCE to even talk about. Numerous Republicans came to the same conclusion.
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/07/14/politics/conservatives-report-trump-2020-election-claims/index.html
It’s been almost two years and despite all these claims, despite Trump having $250 million donated to prove his case, not one single person has been charged. Recount after recount reached the same result. “2000 Mules” but none can be named. It’s pathetically stupid. And dangerous.

@Gweilo
> “the guy is entitled to think whatever he wants”
> Of course he is. Why do you imply I said otherwise?
You delivered one snarky remark, so I countered it with another, big deal.
Let’s linger on your initial remark a bit longer, shall we?
> A guy who thinks the invasion of Iraq was the epitome of American greatness…
…and? Why suddenly everybody must think different, and align with your implied, apparently opposite sentiment instead? If I had a problem with such a statement, at least I would first ask “what does the author mean, exactly” and “where is he coming from” — instead of just assuming a posture of moral high ground. They say “don’t judge a guy, until you walked a mile in his shoes”. I wasn’t there at the time, and I haven’t seen the events that with my own eyes, so I do not rush to dispense judgement. I don’t know for sure, but something tells me you weren’t there at the time either.
July 17th, 2022
@alnilam: re Iraq: you start talking about “entitled to opinions, now you say you were being “snarky”.
What I did was simply highlight a position the author holds. It goes to his credibility. You may think it enhances it, I, for one, do not.
And this has nothing to do with those who fought. It has to do whether launching a war that lasted 30 years was a good idea.
With no self awareness, the author says it proved American greatness, then goes on to whine about the decline since then, trying to blame “the woke mob” for all the awful results.
July 17th, 2022
@Gweilo
> And this has nothing to do with those who fought. It has to do whether launching a war that lasted 30 years was a good idea.
I happen to agree that America would be wise to stay away from some military conflicts and engagements, including the war in Iraq.
Still, I believe the author meant something entirely different, and not “America was right about starting the war in Iraq”, as you seem to imply.
IMO, there are certain objective parameters one can perceive and refer to as “greatness”, like the overall level of technology, industry, logistics, operations, combat skill and fighting spirit of soldiers, altogether fused into an advanced machine of civilization one can marvel at—not to confuse any of it with actions of corrupt politicians and shadow figures, often tempted to use that unquestionable technological and societal achievement as means to their ends (which, in particular, may include undermining, weakening, corrupting and otherwise diminishing that very achievement).
July 18th, 2022
@alnilam The description, presumably the author’s belief is “Having defeated one of the world’s largest armies in a matter of days, the United States looked forward to a new century of peace and prosperity.”
But then “The former land of opportunity seems to be in irreversible decline.”.
Instead of drawing a lesson, he proceeds with an insane conspiracy story to blame all this on the Left and its “hive mind”, socialism, all the other bogeymen of the far right.
The Iraq invasion was posited on a big lie, that Iraq had WMD and was allied to al Qaeda, cost trillions of dollars, a million lives, and made the US hated by billions. It was objectively a very bad idea. Not a moment of greatnesss.
Otherwise, this guy is just another RWNJ riding on Trump’s coattails.

@Gweilo
> Instead of drawing a lesson, he proceeds with an insane conspiracy story to blame all this on the Left and its “hive mind”, socialism, all the other bogeymen of the far right.
Well, what can I say, except that there have been a number of devilishly clever conspiracies throughout human history, to which the following two or more stages can be attributed, in some progression:
(i) Oh no, it is so, so insane, a conspiracy? How can you possibly imagine such a thing? We are clean as a whistle here!
(ii) Haha, there has been a conspiracy all along — and you lost, a sore miserable loser!

“American Greatness” - AKA American Hubris
July 24th, 2022
Thank you Sir.
October 11th, 2022
@alnilam - so essentially, from this point on, if Republicans win an election, it was despite Democrats cheating because people just love Republicans so much, and if they lose, it’s because incompetent Democrats managed to steal the election out from under Republicans in the most devious, conspiratorial fashion the likes of which we can’t even dream (and which leaves zero evidence), therefore we need to quickly make it more difficult for undesirables to vote and install people who understand the election was stolen and will do anything to reverse that into roles where they can decide whether or not they’ll accept the “apparent” results of elections, which obviously can only be won by Republicans unless Democrats cheat. What could possibly go wrong.
And all because one sad little president would rather burn down American democracy than admit that he lost, because if there is one thing that person is incapable of doing, is admitting he is wrong or admitting he lost. Literally. Has never done it. Has said and done the most ridiculous, bizarre things just to avoid saying that he ever made a mistake - really - look it up. It’s psychotic.
But what I never thought, is that the party who used to be the grown-ups in the room, the party that I grew up in, would transform into a cult where the central thesis and litmus test for belonging is to loudly and violently insist that one man - who is notable for being the most famous liar on the planet - couldn’t possibly have lost an election where he spent 4 years alienating 60% of the country and acting like a corrupt, incompetent clown whenever given the chance.
Hope it’s worth it, ’cause you’ve never been more wrong about such important things.
