As a White woman, ask yourself: Are you upholding or fighting racism?
What’s Up with White Women? is a practical guide for White women who are interested in becoming more effective in their cross-cultural, anti-racist practices.
Blending real-life stories, theory, and anti-racism practices from decades of on-the-ground work, the authors invite White women to understand their gendered role in systemic racism and their unique opportunity for action. Both frank and compassionate, coverage includes:
Stories of White women’s experiences with sexism, racism, and White privilege
How White women harm BIPOC and ourselves by colluding with systems of oppression
Why and how White women often hijack race conversations
A powerful six-stage identity development model for self-reflection and growth
Guiding questions and practical actions for strengthening anti-racism practices
Tools to cultivate genuine partnerships with BIPOC individuals and groups.
White women are positioned in a power hierarchy between White men and BIPOC. It is time for White women to step up and undertake deep reflection on their role in systemic racism and take concrete actions that support equity and justice for all people.

I always thought that white women (as an undifferentiated group category, with essential & immutable racial characteristics) were up to no good. Now here’s the proof.
Can’t wait to start Calpurnia on this new & powerful 6-stage identity development model for self-reflection & growth. That’s the last time she hijacks a race conversation, I can tell ya!
More like this, good enigma, upload them as often as you like, lad.

Phew, I’m green with multi coloured pokadots.
This looks like labels will sink the human race before rising tides will.

I’m just going to leave this here.
https://wams.nyhistory.org/industry-and-empire/fighting-for-equality/suffrage-and-the-fifteenth-amendment/
“[Frederick Douglass] was an early supporter of women’s suffrage. However, he was so disgusted by the women’s responses to the 15th amendment that he spoke out against Stanton at the May 1869 convention of the American Equal Rights Association (AERA), saying: “I do not see how any one can pretend that there is the same urgency in giving the ballot to the woman as to the negro. . . . With us, the matter is a question of life and death.” Stanton and Anthony left the AERA shortly after the convention and formed the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA).”
If you want to understand why white women, and many women’s organizations today are often exclusionary toward racial and ethnic groups, the reason is because those same groups, that feminists once vehemently supported, threw them under the bus when doing so was politically expedient. Which is why we have a 15th, largely for black men and a 19th amendment, 50 years later, for all women. Instead of just a single amendment for universal suffrage.
The take away? Everyone, regardless of race, gender or creed, has within them the universal capacity to be an absolute scum bag. But, in this specific case, it was black men that did a pretty terrible thing to all women living in the US.

Every group that has civil rights’ struggles has been guilty of throwing allies under the bus for the sake of expediency, particularly when it comes to legislative reform.
I remember when the women’s movement accepted the “win” of Roe v Wade, despite the fact that the Helms Amendment would prevent low income women from accessing abortion services.
But I can also remember black activists declining to condemn anti-gay hate speech on the part of ministers and rappers, for fear of diluting the numbers and strength of their own movement.
While it is extremely important to be aware of and seek to eliminate such hypocrisies it would be naive to ignore the fact that coalitions must be broad-based to accomplish anything in terms of legislation.
(Not saying this is a good thing. I am a radical, not a liberal, and believe the system itself needs reform.
But get real — nobody involved in these struggles is immune to charged of caving in out of expediency. There are too many real enemies out there who are only too happy to see the women’s movement demonized.
Follow the freaking money.

but what is a white women?

@brassy
So far as I’m aware, the Yupik people haven’t thrown anyone under the bus. I can name a few native groups that have, the Yakima and the leadership of Hooper Bay from about 300 years ago certainly did. When I’ve attended AFN occasions there has been absolute no throwing under the bus by any of the speakers I’ve heard. Also, I’m not aware of women having done this to their allies either. Men seem to do it a lot though.
To be clear, I was demonizing the thinking that seems to be exemplified by books like this, thinking which implies that the present division between movements focused on racism and those focused on sexism is because white women are racist. While some white women are racist, just as members of every group can be, the main reason for the current division between these groups stems first and foremost from historical fractures that were created by the then leadership of the abolitionist movement. While unity is necessary to make progress, that unity is not going to be attained by unilaterally claiming racism when other factors are also at play. Generally, apologizing is a first step in reconciliation between groups. Meaningless as that may be.
I may be incorrect but I don’t believe the current leadership of anti-racial discrimination groups have ever apologized. Indeed, they continue to venerate Douglas and their early leadership despite their betrayal of the women’s movement.

Oh, I should address why I don’t feel that accepting roe v wade was a betrayal. I see a difference between making incremental progress for everyone, which roe v wade did, and striking a deal that solely benefits one group over another, which the 15th amendment did.
Roe should have been pursued, Obama shouldn’t have refused to try and codify it on the basis of what proved to be pointless reconciliation efforts with republicans, but all women did have the right to abortion for a time, just not access to it, which is different in kind from not having the right to vote at all.
I see those things as being different, I respect that you may not and reasonable people may disagree on this point.

How many times are you going to post this garbage, libtard?
