All nine of the BBC’s Rebus radio dramas, the first starring Alexander Morton and the remaining eight with Ron Donachie as Rebus.

Also the two feature length Cully radio dramas, which star Alexander Morton and were written specially for the radio by Ian Rankin.

The first four Ron Donachie stories pre-date the modern BBC iPlayer/Sounds and so the sound quality for them isn’t up to my usual standard. The first two I recorded from a Freeview TV decoder, the third and fourth I downloaded from an old torrent. All of the rest I encoded from the iPlayer so should sound great.

CULLY -

1. The Serpent’s Back -

The resourceful if low-born Mr Cullender (caddie, manservant and general dogsbody) goes in search of a double murderer. Ian Rankin’s black comedy set in the seething Old Town of 1790s Edinburgh. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1995.

2. The Third Gentleman -

Another case for the roguish Mr Cullender in the Edinburgh of the 1790s. As the Press Gang roams the streets looking for likely lads to fight Napoleon, and while the Town Guard finds themselves baffled by a spate of wine cellar murders, Cully gallantly rushes to the assistance of a young lady in distress. Let It Bleed -

The Edinburgh detective probes political corruption and insider dealing. Ian Rankin’s thriller stars Alexander Morton. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1999.

5. The Black Book -

Rebus investigates an unsolved murder, with the help of a notebook full of coded clues. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2012.

6. Set in Darkness -

Rebus follows a trail of dead bodies found at a construction site. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2014.

7. A Question of Blood -

DI Rebus investigates a school shooting but becomes the main suspect in a fatal house fire. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2016.

8. Fleshmarket Close -

DI Rebus investigates the murder of an illegal immigrant in an Edinburgh housing scheme. First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2017.
