Doesn’t the release of the actual transcript make the whistleblower’s second and third hand complaints irrelevant?
October 4th, 2019
Not entirely, a factor involved is whether Trump appointed people chose to try and cover up the complaint when it reached their desks rather than passing it to congress’s security council. Need the original complaint to ascertain how innapropiate that was. Like with many things, sometimes the cover-up can be the bigger problem/crime than the original event.

@Ellendar, not that I’m a fan of Trump, but asking the Ukrainian govt (or China, or Australia) to provide political dirt on his opponent isn’t illegal. Neither is withholding foreign aid. Certainly morally ambiguous, and in my opinion distasteful, but not illegal.
While I see your point in his appointed staff not passing it to the security council, it’s interesting how the story is unfolding how the Dems (Schiff) knew about the complaint (and per Trump probably wrote it). Proving Trump ordered them to do it is nearly impossible. At best, an underling will have to fall on his/her sword, and Trump will be firewalled.
But let’s have the farce play out. In then end, the House will impeach and the Senate will not censure Trump, let alone expel him from office.
The only thing that will happen is that it will polarize the base even more for the Dems and GOP. And in end of the day, Trump’s 2020 speeches will point out the fact that they couldn’t get him with the Mueller report, they couldn’t get him with the Ukrainian investigation, the economy hasn’t collapsed as they said it would, and the US isn’t at war. Plus, he weakens his strongest opponent by implying his impeachment investigation was to cover up Biden’s possible corruption.
You may want to ask yourself, which will resonate better. Trump asking a foreign govt(s) to provide information on possible corruption or say a candidate paying a former foreign intelligence officer to provide a file on Trump that somehow ends up in the FBI’s hands and is used as a basis for a very questionable wire tap warrant.
In the end, the impeachment will backfire on the Dems just as Clinton’s did to the GOP. Oddly, Clinton was guilty of perjury, and as despicable as Trump’s actions are, he hasn’t committed a crime.
It’s all just bread and circuses anyway.

Someone who heard something, from someone, who heard it was from someone else. Really?
Is that how desperate the democrats are to impeach this President on charges that would be thrown out even in a Kangaroo Court!?
Democrats have reached an all time, dangerous low.
Sets a very dangerous precedent for all future Presidents and for jurisprudence.
#walkaway from the Democratic Party. They’ve become more then unhinged.
October 4th, 2019
The Dems had to do this because it was the right thing to do. Whether it backfires or not.
October 4th, 2019
@illodiini, I wish you would expand on that thought. How is it the right thing to do? When you know that what you’re doing isn’t based on a legal issue, how does impeachment hearings/investigations make it the right thing to do?
Other than a political exercise, the simple question is was a crime committed, and the answer is No. So, if there is no crime, what is the point other than to make political hay.
Here’s a thought, instead of crying and whining about how terrible the President is, produce a candidate that actually has both the thought and intention of delivering the campaign promises they make.
Beating Trump in 2020 should have been a slam dunk. The Dems still control the media, they’ve had three years of smear campaign. Trump’s handed them plenty of material. And yet what do you have.
The leading contender has #MeToo issues, and a bigoted background, and quite possibly a son whose potential corruption will tank his campaign. The next contender can’t decide if she’s a Native American or a pilgram and wants to tax the rich (like that’s going to happen) but won’t say how which means the middle class gets taxed again. And then there’s the socialist elite who didn’t work until he was in Congress, and promises free education and health care. Yeah, where’s the money for all that coming from, oh, that’s right the middle class again.
Trump wanted $5.7 billion for his stupid wall, how much are the dem candidates going to cost the taxpayer so they can sit in the White House?
Here’s an idea, make proposals that don’t tax the average person to death or expect them to pay higher insurance rates. But I guess it’s easier to win favor making blue sky promises than to come up with workable solutions.
But hey, there’s still time for the old hag Hillary to throw her hat in the ring. Wouldn’t that be a kick.

@TotallyDisenfranchised
You want me to solve all your problems, what?
I’m Europian, Finnish to be exact. Excluding some mentally challenged or simple opportunists, we all know what Trump is. Al Capone was caught for tax fraud. It’s imperative that the process to get rid of Trump gets started. And it’s obvious that his other sins and misdemeanors will come out as time goes by. And crimes.
I’m really amazed that he still has defenders and followers. Don’t you have any shame?
October 4th, 2019
@booklovers89, it’s interesting that you talk about the sellouts. I’m wondering what your thoughts are about the Clintons and their fake foundation.
I suggest you take a look at their audited financial statements and tax returns. You can find them on their website:
https://www.clintonfoundation.org/about/annual-financial-reports
Go to the section called Audited Financial Statements & IRS Form 990s and look at the years between 2009-2013 compared to 2016 & 2017. I guess losing that election really cut into the tax evasion operations. What’s more likely a legitimate charity organization’s annual revenue would drops from $250-350 million a year while Hillary was SOS to less than $60 million because a) people can no longer afford to make contributions to a charity organization or b) the charity was a money laundering/tax evasion scheme that now that Hillary lost her election and is a nobody.
Bill Clinton was actually removed from the campaign trail twice during the 2016 elections. Once for when he made the comment that “Hillary’s had more women than I have.” And the 2nd time was when he was asked on how much of the Foundation’s revenues are spent on charities and he replied “10%”. Oddly, that time he actually told the truth. If you look at the financials, the direct contributions to charities most years run around 9-15%.
Maybe Trump abusing his office for personal gain will be next month’s scandal. Oh wait, the Dems have already accused him of that with the hotels in DC and Scotland. Never mind, Trump’s still an amatuer when it comes to criminal activities.
October 4th, 2019
@illodiini, I would love it if you could solve all of America’s problems, our politicians have clearly demonstrated they can’t, so perhaps you can.
I’ll grant you, Trump is beneath pond scum in my opinion. He shouldn’t have been able to win the 2016 elections, and wouldn’t have had the DNC shown an ounce of integrity and not allowed/rigged an even more corrupt individual than Trump to run against him.
I have no problem with an impeachment hearing if it was based on illegal activities, but this one isn’t.
It’s just political hay making like the entire Mueller investigation. It was a waste of tax payer (mine damn it) money. Did it provide any proof on how the Russians supposedly got Trump elected - No, did it provide proof that Trump conspired with the Russians to win the election - No.
Do I believe Trump asked Putin and his cronies for any dirt they have on Hillary, damn straight I do. Is that illegal - No. Do I believe the Russians tried to influence/hack our elections - Maybe, possibly even probably, certainly no more or less than the US have done to countries like Israel, so our whining about it is pretty hypocritical in my opinion.
As Presidential material, he’s not worthy of the office, but if you want him removed from office, then do it legally, not with pathetic marketing.
Trump should be an easy candidate to beat. It’s too bad the only people that seem to want the job of being President are all sleaze bags and/or sacks of shyte!

Amazing how these posts bring out the the Most Faithful Truly Brainwashed fans of the Most High, I-can-do-anything-I-want dictator-in-waiting. Almost as amazing as the fact that a certain number of people actually LIKE this buffoon. I hope they get what they deserve, just not in the US. Perhaps Brazil might be more to their liking, Phillipines, Russia, all those great democracies…
October 4th, 2019
To TotallyDisenfranchised:
Yes, it is illegal to ask any foreign government or person for “political dirt on [an] opponent.” Federal law expressly prohibits “a person [i.e., Trump] [from] solicit[ing], accept[ing], or receiv[ing] “a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election.” 52 U.S.C. Sec. 30121.
Here, Trump has asked the leaders of numerous foreign governments for “dirt” on Joe Biden and his son. That is a “thing of value” and therefore solicited a political contribution from the President of Ukraine, as well as other foreign nations.
Moreover, as president, Trump’s Constitutional duty is to place the national security interests of the United States above any personal political interests. The sovereignty of Ukraine is critical to U.S. security with regard to Russia. Here, Trump threatened to withhold Javelin missles from Ukraine if it did not investigate Joe Biden, a political rival. Trump placed his personal political interests above the national security interests of the United States, and in doing so he violated his Constitutional Oath of Office.
October 4th, 2019
And in reading your later comments, every time Trump asked foreign leaders for “dirt” on political opponents he was soliciting a campaign contribution from those governments. Every time he did that he violated the law. In short, the very foundation of your argument against impeachment, i.e., that Trump did nothing illegal, is objectively false. Moreover, your argument also ignores the numerous and ongoing efforts of Trump and his minions to cover up that activity. That’s obstruction of justice. Violations of federal law, obstruction of justice, violation his Constitutional duty to place U.S. interest above all personal interests. The impeachable offenses are piling up by the hour.
October 4th, 2019
To Apollo 60. This is not based on “Someone who heard something, from someone, who heard it was from someone else.” We have the transcript of the telephone call between Trump and the President of Ukraine. That’s direct evidence of what Trump said and did. Yesterday, he announced he was going to hold trade negotiations with China hostage if China did not investigate Biden. Again, that’s placing personal political interests above the interest of the United States. A violation of Trump’s oath of office. As I said, the bases for impeachment increase by the hour.

All this sellout America crap comes from, a secret cabal of Corporatist lead by the Coke Brothers Inc. They just want to increase their corporate welfare. They buy Corporate republicans and corporate democrats for pennies, and get (free USA army, free USA oil, cheap USA labor, free USA land. The Corporatist pay no tax on billions of dollars.
October 4th, 2019
someone should once and for all pit the Koch brothers against George Soros in a fight to the death, so we can finally work out who’s been funding all the secret conspiracies (or if both, who is the best at it) - clearly they’ll manipulate events so that they survive.
October 4th, 2019
alphabetdave… What? your so much smarter then us? That you can magically twist words and bend reality. The greedy Koch brothers stacked the courts so they get bigger welfare.
October 4th, 2019
…or at least find out Coke’s secret formula. For success, or whatever. I think one of those Cokes may have died - or that’s just what he wants us to think. So he can avoid more taxes, I imagine. The humanity! He may have rigged the Pepsi challenge, ironically enough.

We all pay tax. To give this county a little back. Why should the corporations that suck the country dry not pay tax.
October 4th, 2019
if billionaires pay more tax we pay less.

So much time spent denying collusion with Russia, yet this whole episode plus the outreach to China and Australia before seems to fit the bill. Then Donald comes out with “…I have never done an unethical or illegal thing in my life”

Russia, Stormy Daniels, Emoluments, 25th Amendment, Comey, Mueller, Cohen, Fire and Fury, Finland Press conference Treason. I can’t even remember all of these “existential”, Trump’s finished moments. He will survive, he’ll be re-elected, and these “scandals” driven by for-profit media will continue. At a certain point, even staying up to date on the latest scandal is a waste of time - how much have your time have you wasted already?

I guess you ’see’ what you wish to see. I see an attempted political coup by a most corrupt Party. The Democrats are so desperate they will fabricate any story to fool the American people. I truly see the derangement and devolving of the Democratic Party. I walked away from them for many reasons. They’re acting like the Nazis of the 30’s.
October 5th, 2019
The Democrats think that the anti-Trump media blitz of the last 3 years will matter in the 2020 election. It will not.The American people are too smart to believe Google, Facebook, Apple, Instagram, the msm and other ultra biased “news” outlet’s lies. They have reported one falsehood after another and they have all turned out to make the media reporters to be liars and fakes. cnn’s ratings are so low, the Nickelodeon station has higher ratings. The ironic thing is that the unhinged democrats accuse Trump of the very same things that they are in fact doing. This book is yet another hack/attack job on a duly elected President. Hyperbole, hysteria and horse poo.
October 5th, 2019
The worst part of this whole thing is that the progressive Democrat Party just wants to keep Trump from appointing more judges whose philosophy includes natural rights as recognized in the Declaration of Independence. Tis a battle for individualism vs. collectivism.
October 5th, 2019
@TotallyDisenfranchised it isn’t illegal, but it is impeachable (cf. Cole et al.: Report No. R44260, Impeachment and Removal.)
October 5th, 2019
I cannot understand the comments about “Second and third hand” information - Bone Spur himself released the transcript (obviously doctored to support him but still totally incriminating)
October 6th, 2019
Amazing how the gullible have been tricked into ignoring Joe Biden’s actual quid pro quo :D
October 6th, 2019
@ghiaurov321, thank you for your responses. In my opinion, that’s stretching that code section pretty thinly, but I will grant you that it may apply. So, IF the dems actually impeach him in the House, then it’ll be up to the Chief Justice to determine when it reaches the Senate whether or not if it applies.
Not that it really matters, because even if its used, the GOP will at best just censure Trump, not expel him. And in the end, he’ll walk away unscathed.
October 6th, 2019
@abl3archer, I believe you are referring to the Summary point:
“Impeachable conduct does not appear to be limited to criminal behavior. Congress has identified three general types of conduct that constitute grounds for impeachment, although these categories should not be understood as exhaustive: (1) improperly exceeding or abusing the powers of the office; (2) behavior incompatible with the function and purpose of the office; and (3) misusing the office for an improper purpose or for personal gain.”
And since all that’s required to impeach a President in the House is a majority vote, the dems have that as they control the House.
So, yes, they can impeach him. Whoopie!!! Oh, that’s right, to censure or expel him from office requires a 2/3 vote from the Senate.
Even if you believe that the politicians in the Senate are NOT going to vote along their party’s line (a snowball’s chance in hell for that to happen), then unless actual evidence can be provided that proves Trump doctored the transcript, or some other material illegal act, then this exercise is nothing more than political haymaking.
In the end, all this does is polarize Trump’s base more. People that voted for him because they didn’t like Clinton will question why the Dems are so afraid of having Joe Biden and his son under the microscope. And Trump comes out stronger in the end.
The way to beat Trump isn’t through accusing him of everything under the sun (most of which I’ll grant you he probably did) but to provide a BETTER CANDIDATE. Beat Trump on the issues plaguing America with workable solutions, not B/S blue sky solutions and promises of taxing the rich that will never occur.
This political marketing exercise only feeds Trump the publicity that he thrives on. To him, there is no bad press no matter what the message is.
October 6th, 2019
@Apollo60 - “cnn’s ratings are so low, the Nickelodeon station has higher ratings.” Now that’s was funny. Thank you for the laugh!
As Bill Clinton was facing his impeachment, and almost all the media outlets were talking about his perjury and the Monica Lewinski story, CNN was praising his Presidential performance.
There’s good reasons why CNN was called the Clinton News Network. It hasn’t changed much in the last twenty years.
October 6th, 2019
@booklovers89 - “if billionaires pay more tax we pay less.” Now there’s a truly naïve statement.
I’m not in favor of raising taxes on the wealthy because for every additional tax increase done to them, there are tax loopholes created that allow the ultra rich to evade paying taxes created. And the only people that actually end up getting taxed is the higher level middle class.
Now, here’s a concept that you won’t hear the dems suggesting. How about a flat tax on ALL income above X $’s. That taxes the middle class and the wealthy at the same rate, while relieving the lower income earners.
Wow, what a concept, actually help the poor, and don’t burden the middle class, and get more money out of the rich.
You see, I don’t believe that the wealthy should be taxed more just because they can afford. I foolishly believe the law of the land should apply equally to the rich and non-rich.
Except that means that the rich would actually have higher tax bills because not only are their exemptions eliminated, but they have to pay taxes on all their income.
And since it’s the rich who determine who sits in the House and Senate through contributions to their war chests, well what politician would risk losing their support by saying they should pay more in taxes?
So next time Warren (or any other politician) makes claims about taxing the rich, but then dodges the question about how they intend to do that, you know everything they just said was B/S.

Why should Trump be removed by force from office?
MY GOD have you heard the way this guy talks and the way he says things? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)

@illodiini - The right thing for the Dems to do is to stop covering up crimes of their elite and do what the people who voted for them want … representation.
Never in the history of America has there been so many corrupt politicians in office.
