Jones-Rogers draws on a variety of sources to show that slave-owning women were sophisticated economic actors who directly engaged in and benefited from the South’s slave market. Because women typically inherited more slaves than land, enslaved people were often their primary source of wealth.
Not only did white women often refuse to cede ownership of their slaves to their husbands, they employed management techniques that were as effective and brutal as those used by slave-owning men.
White women actively participated in the slave market, profited from it, and used it for economic and social empowerment. The first slave owner was a black man. White men and women also… however what no-one seems to realize it it was a British colony that brought slaves to this land. Whiter fought along side of blacks to free them. many died. Not all White people are bad or racist.

BigFinishFan check your history …the slavery that pre existed US slavery was more equivalent to indentured servitude moreover how do those lesser (but nevertheless egregious) examples in any way ameliorate industrialized slavery of an entire race on U.S. soil?
And who the f is ‘they?’
It isn’t enough to be the passive recipient of white supremacy?

Why does no one ever mention that the Irish were almost completely wiped out due to the slave trade? Or that Irish were cheaper to purchase so they were more likely to be killed? Since this is such a hot topic, why doesn’t all the sjw people stop the slavery of today? Its ridiculous to continue on with something from 200 yrs ago but do nothing about the suffering happening today! It was wrong it is over in the U.S. it needs to be stopped in the rest of the world.

Wow, the amount of the “Well, they did it first so it’s not our fault” b.s. that comes out of peoples mouths is sickening. We, white people, owned and committed HORRIBLE atrocities against African slaves, accept it, it happened. Can we change that fact, no, but what we can do,is love and treat the descendants of those slaves as the human beings they are, because if you think they are treated equal by all, you have your eyes shut. The fact that a cop knelt on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and no one did a damn thing about it is disgusting. Just because you dont call an AA the n word, or are openly racist towards them, when you see something like that happen, and are not disgusted, and angered by it, you either see them as less, or your not human because that should sicken anyone.
