The Storm: Or, a Collection of the Most Remarkable Casualties and Disasters Which Happen’d in the Late Dreadful Tempest, Both by Sea and Land
· Length: 9 hrs and 4 mins
Publisher: 2021 SAGA Egmont
In The Storm, Defoe creates another literary landmark—the first modern example of long-form journalism. In the book, Defoe, drawing on firsthand accounts, records the impact and aftermath of The Great Storm of 1703, a series of thunderstorms and floods that barraged southern England.
The Storm relates the events of a week-long storm that hit London starting on 24 November and reaching its height on the night of 26/27 November 1703. It is known as the Great Storm of 1703, and it was described by Defoe as “The Greatest, the Longest in Duration, the widest in Extent, of all the Tempests and Storms that History gives any Account of since the Beginning of Time.”
During the work on this piece Defoe used other peoples personal accounts of the storm submitted to him through newspaper add. Defoe also shared his view on the reasons of the great disaster, claiming that the destruction of the sovereign fleet, in which about one-fifth of the navy was lost, was a punishment for their poor performance against the Catholic armies of France and Spain during the first year of the War of the Spanish Succession.
The Storm is a pioneering work of journalism and science reporting. It has been called the first substantial work of modern journalism, and it is the first detailed account of a hurricane in Britain. He includes various topics, including politics, crime, religion, marriage, psychology, and the supernatural.
This book is often a reading assignment for journalism students and, because of its accurate journalistic form, so is the non-fiction A Journal of the Plague Year.
Warning–Poor narration but the only copy out there. It is not a book for casual reading.

This is untrue because fossil fuels cause mega storms and Britain wasn’t using them in the 1700s.
If this is somehow true it would expose the global warming agenda as a hoax and as such this book needs to be cancelled

Nice! Sounds like a very interesting read! Definitely not the worst storm in the history of the planet, but as we are discovering, the Sun plays the largest role in weather on this planet, as astronomers are seeing changes on several of our planets as well on Earth.
Thanks for a really neat upload!
