I went into this audiobook blind. 50 minutes in I began to have my doubts about the veracity of the experiences being recounted. This book, and all of Carlos Castaneda’s books, should include a warning about his extensive fraud and damaging misrepresentation of the Yaqui.

His books were translated into dozens of languages around the world, and his work is an inspiration to millions.
The reason for his success is not an academic interest in anthropology.
Avoiding the flaccid superstitions of the new age, he speaks about human awareness and the power of an individual over their own lives. His grip on the mystical experiences only aims to increase that power and not to drain it into comforting fantasy.
