In this timely new PI Guide, Robert Murphy reveals the stark truth that free-market failure didn’t cause the Great Depression and the New Deal didn’t cure it. Shattering myths and politically correct lies, he tells why World War II didn’t help the economy or get us out of the Great Depression, why it took FDR to make the Depression “great,” and why Herbert Hoover was more like Obama and less like Bush than the liberal media would have you believe. The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Great Depression and the New Deal is a modern-day fireside lesson in our past, current, and future economic history. Free-market believers and capitalists everywhere should have this on their bookshelves and in their briefcases.

Utter nonsense. Hoover had intimate, self-serving interests with Wall St and ignored repeated warnings about the imminent financial collapse from top Wall St advisors. He then did nothing to fix the mess he helped to evolve.
Roosevelt brought in safeguard measures to the financial system to prevent another disastrous crash. He established deposit guarantees to restore confidence in banks and the SEC (which Republican governments later made toothless).
It was directly due to the Republican admins’ deregulation of FDR’s safeguards that the financial system collapsed in 2008. FDR’s New Deal (infrastructure projects etc) and WWII especially did bring America out of the economic doldrums. WWII energized America’s industry which led to the post-war boom.
This is not a P.C. guide, it is a B.S. guide.

Author’s Wikipedia bio: “Murphy is a Christian, and has written articles expressing support for a literal interpretation of the Bible and skepticism of evolutionary theory.
Murphy is also noteworthy, and has been criticized by economists Brad DeLong and Paul Krugman for, repeatedly predicting that the quantitative easing practiced by the Federal Reserve in the late 2000s would create double-digit inflation and economic collapse—predictions that did not come to fruition.”
Objectivity/ rationality/ credibility = 0
