The thing is, if people read more Tove Jansson’s Moomin stories, they’d find more happiness in life.

I read her Moomin books every other year or so, and every time I discover or understand something new and wonderful.

Just read them, Scotty. Or listen what’s available. Those animated serials, while not at all bad, don’t quite catch the feeling. In a world where Trump remains president and his followers think he’s great, it’s essential to read books that make one happy.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m familiar with Moomins from their tv incarnation, I watched them a bit when I was a young ‘un, but I can’t remember the essential, special appeal. Although I’m sure it’s there. One issue I had was that I wasn’t able to taxonomise them within the animal kingdom: were they talkative bovines, or soft pachyderms, that kind of thing.
That must have been my barrier to full enjoyment.
So I switched over to Transformers instead. Sentient, alien, transforming robots were a less challenging proposition. “‘Til all are one!”
