Wow thanks. I’ve read this excellent book before. 1st published in 1988. Never knew there was an audio version. This is required reading for the topic (you’ll be hearing more about it as decline, American & global, continues).

caesar963, you are far from the only person too afraid to face collapse. Denial is the #1 response. Collapse is a process, not an event. Coming to accept collapse is also a process for most. Good fortune to those with the courage to look. I hope this will help you to better understand the why?.

Regeneration is also a process, rather than a sexy event. Doomsayers tend to delight in the prospect of collapse, & lack the courage to contemplate the alternative, to come to face it (glad ur not 1 of those, ap ol’ chap).
To illustrate: every shell-shocked old Marxist has been waiting, growing older & passing on in anticipation of the demise of that mythical beast “late-stage whatchamacallit” - they just can’t face the fact that the market system evolves, adapts & regenerates. Things change - that’s all.
Just delight in the wonder of all things; & don’t fear it, be damn happy abt it. Hope this helps…

Ceaser963 im sure the ‘Regular processes of transformation, change & regeneration’ is literally the collapse of a society, the rejection of the status quo or/& the sociological exchange of biology and design. Wether by virus, economic failures, environmental factors, the military industrial complex and the over milking of the masses by the self named elite. This process and more is the collapse of one form through various factors including the need for change and regeneration by external societies or internal groups. When a tree grows old and dies, it’s included in the regular process of transformation from tree to compost, in change and regeneration the tree goes through a process of dying, collapsing and then transforming. In this simple example is it not the basis of the theory that happens to all things including societies and civilisations? Possible is it not? 😉🙏🏼 Blessings

Together, we’re more like the river than the tree. We just keep on keepin’ on. We’ve always had viral, economic, environmental, & military factors; we’ve always had elites, & we always will. As I said, these regular processes of transformation, change & regeneration may often present as, & be mistaken for, the collapse dynamic. Evolution, adaptation, & regeneration = things changing. caesar963: I like what you’re saying, which makes me suspicious of my own desire to see a positive outcome: I like civilization, and I have grandchildren I very much want to be fufilled, safe and happy. The problem is, societies DO collapse, fail whatever test “transformation” imposes.
How do we tell the difference? (Caesar or anyone else want to answer that?)

“collapse dynamic”?just made up on the spot weasel-denier term because you know nothing about the academic study of collapse. Better to remain silent than open your mouth & expose your ignorance. Just stay alive ceaser & I guarantee you will get a Phd in collapse the hard way.
