What are archetypes? What is the collective unconscious? Both these concepts are two of Jung’s most famous and exciting ideas.

In this volume, taken from the Collective Works, Jung describes and elaborates upon these two central concepts of his psychology. Included are essays on specific archetypes, a study of the process of individuation, and an account of mandala symbolism. The Journal of Analytical Psychology in its review of the text commented: ‘An eloquent witness to Jung’s greatness of mind and heart. His idea of the archetype involves profound attitudes towards man’s existence and intimates values through which very many people have found a new significance in their lives.’ In its original print format, The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious was profusely illustrated with many illustrations in full color, and these are all available on a companion PDF which is included with this recording.
