What ‘dangerous narrative’? Yours is the dangerous narrative. The only “huge power-grab” is that by big oil and other traditional industries.
And what exactly is the “end goal” that has “nothing to do with the environment”?

We are currently experiencing the hottest temperatures ever recorded. There’s a current heat wave in Europe that is well above 40 degrees celsius. Tens of thousands of people have died from heat in the last few years.
BUT DON’T WORRY, because if a conservative white man yells loud enough and bangs his fist on a table hard enough and points at someone angrily enough, IT WILL ALL GO AWAY! That’s right, all a conservative white man as to do is yell at the planet, show the planet his gun, walk around angrily and the planet will get SO SCARED, that it will INSTANTLY start cooling down. If it doesn’t, the white man may enlist the help of his friend: the zombie god who is his own father and has no problem with slavery, children in poverty or nuclear bombs, but will cool the planet down! Yes folks, don’t worry about anything, because the conservative christian white man will get us all out of this one, just as fast as he got us all into it, so just shut up and wait for him to start walking around, angrily screaming at Earth, then we’ll all be ok…

I have the printed book on order, and very much doubt that there will be much new here for me. I’ve been aware that anthropogenic climate change would be the gravest issue of my lifetime, and have read hundreds of peer-reviewed studies in the field.
It’s now an old science. AGW was first postulated in the 1860s, equilibrium climate sensitivity first calculated in the 1890s, first computer modelling in the 1950s, it featured in presidential addresses to Congress in the 1960s, and the international oil company’s own geophysicists concluded that it posed a limit to the amount of resource they could safely extract in the 1970s. And yet, the hottest 7 days in at least 100k years (and perhaps the past 14 million years) occurred last week, and coincided with the highest number of commercial flights, globally.
We’ve done practically nothing, and the willfully ignorant, like Columbia21, grond2, and Faiscar above, who get their scientific information from paid politicians and paid coal/oil/gas lobbyists, rather than scientists, are a major and morally repellant part of the problem.

i remember learning about this in grade school. I am 60 now and most still think its BS, as they run from ever increasingly dramtic changes in their enviroment. Yes, carbon was much much higher in the past. I assure you that living at this time for humans would have been impossible. Yes, the earth will again reach those limits. But, its the rapid nature of that human impact has that is the real issue.
