Many people believe that, at its core, biological sex is a fundamental, diverging force in human development. According to this overly familiar story, differences between the sexes are shaped by past evolutionary pressures?women are more cautious and parenting-focused, while men seek status to attract more mates. In each succeeding generation, sex hormones and male and female brains are thought to continue to reinforce these unbreachable distinctions, making for entrenched inequalities in modern society.
In Testosterone Rex, psychologist Cordelia Fine wittily explains why past and present sex roles are only serving suggestions for the future, revealing a much more dynamic situation through an entertaining and well-documented exploration of the latest research that draws on evolutionary science, psychology, neuroscience, endocrinology, and philosophy. She uses stories from daily life, scientific research, and common sense to break through the din of cultural assumptions. Testosterone, for instance, is not the potent hormonal essence of masculinity; the presumed, built-in preferences of each sex, from toys to financial risk taking, are turned on their heads.
Moving beyond the old “nature versus nurture” debates, Testosterone Rex disproves ingrained myths and calls for a more equal society based on both sexes’ full, human potential.

Mmmm… feminist cancer. Always a crowed pleaser… as long as you don’t believe in actual science, like biology, endocrinology, or basic psychology.

Thanks very much– a balanced, scientifically rigorous exploration.

Literally nothing but unproven assertions based off of feminist rhetoric from start to finish.

TruthBS — Wow, you’ve downloaded and listened to the entire book already? Or is your review nothing but unproven assertions based on sociopathic rhetoric?

That’s TruthBeatsyourBS get it right.
But more on the point… yeah, I DID go through this triple. It’s unproven assertions about don not even remotely match the basic prove crime statistics about domestic violence. And that’s before we get to the serious problem that a SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGIST is trying to tell you about NEUROSCIENCES. It’s kind of like going to Bill Nye, an industrial engineer, for climate science. And the fact that this lady talks gender mostly as a social construct instead of anything biological based is proof of that. And as such every single piece of her argument is worthless.
And that’s before we get into the this lady personal experiences with her very messed up story about her kid want to taxidermy his pets. But hen again, I guess you get that kind of monster when you let feminist breed.
But FYI the audio quality is at least good in this. That’s about the only good part about the book.

Wow, Thanks for your venom, I mean, opinion, but I’ll judge for myself, TYVM.

You know it’s a good book when the conspiracy theorists slam it.

Content seemed interesting, but is so poorly read that i had to give up on it.
It’s like being read a book by Siri. Just unlistenable.

Awarded the science book prize of the Royal Society for 2017… so I’ll at least give it a chance.

This audiobook is an insight into genderism, a good book to read if you want to hear from a feminist psychologist but much of it is unfounded specualtion and just theory,
If you hear a fact it’s best to do extra research on the Cordelia Fine’s assertions.
