The Shaolin Monastery charts for the first time in any language the history of the Shaolin Temple and the evolution of its world-renowned martial arts. In this meticulously researched and eminently readable study Meir Shahar considers the economic political and religious factors that led Shaolin monks to disregard the Buddhist prohibition against violence and instead create fighting techniques that by the 21st century have spread throughout the world. Meir Shahar is associate professor in the Dept of East Asian Studies Tel Aviv University.

Critic Reviews
“[Shahar] brilliantly demonstrates the complex ebb and flow of the Shaolin monastery’s political and economic fortune in relation to its monks’ voluntary and compulsory battles. . . . This highly readable book is a welcomed edition for scholars and students of Chinese Buddhism, religion, history, and martial arts.” ( Journal of Religion)
“This expert and readable distillation of several aspects of Chinese martial arts history sums up, definitively in English for the present, the verifiable facts and intriguing legends about the Shaolin Temple in North China. . . . . The book’s scholarship is impeccable. . . . Both the graduate student and the kung fu aficionado can learn from this work” ( The Historian)
“A real gift to martial arts enthusiasts and historians alike . . . This refreshingly original study is indispensable for understanding both the history and the hype.” ( Choice)

I meant to ask Haru if it’s possible to post Eucharistic Miracles and Eucharistic Phenomena in the Lives of the Saints by Joan Carroll Cruz?
I don’t know how legit this is, but I just saw this on Carlo Acutis.

Acutis was the boy who set up the Eucharistic Miracles website. He died of cancer or something and the Church is thinking about making him a saint. So they opened his tomb and his body seems to be incorrupted.

Nice party trick. I bet a lot of people buy him free beers.

I can change the whole water vibe by freezing or boiling it. However, I still haven’t received any free beverages on this basis.

That is complete bull.
And post by the same dolt who requests “Eucharistic Miracles”.
Miracles? What else do you need to know about this clown?
Posting about ‘miracles’ where the hard bitten history professors and the grumpy old soldiers reside, is a sure way to get you blitz slapped.

“Miracles? What else do you need to know about this clown?”
Why did Enlightenment philosophers disbelieve in miracles?
Because the of the medium i.e. “the medium is the message” — Marshall McLuhan.
Phonetic writings biases the left-hemisphere of the brain. But it’s the vagus nerve on the right brain which activates the internal energies.
When enough people use a new medium then its effects become common place. Hence that’s the message of given media.
Obviously the ontological presuppositions for the natural sciences are such an effect. Therefore, the idea of supernatural phenomena is nonsense as conditioned by naturalist determinations.
For real natural phenomena we need to turn to Heidegger’s account of the history of Being and thereby decontruct technological effects back to presocratic origins.
I.e. Phusis is fundamental ontology before Plato’s invention of the transcendent forms. Obviously we note Plato was the first generation educated with the Ionic alphabet…

Well I would ask where you live so we can meet up. However seeing as the basis for reality is nonlocalism I don’t really have to do that, do I?…
What’s you expert opinion on this next video?

Here Yan Xin takes off his glasses during a mass stadium healing -
https://youtu.be/sM_XI54INwI?t=8106
“Dr. Yan Xin wears plain glass spectacles as shown in the
front cover photograph for a special purpose. Dr. Yan Xin has
powerful qi-emitting abilities. Since he emits qi through his
eyes, people who are directly exposed to his eyesight
experience very strong reactions. As a result, he wears plain
glass spectacles so that he can regulate this effect. During a
newspaper interview in the early 1990’s, Dr. Yan Xin took off
his glasses and looked directly at a woman who was in the room.
The woman began crying uncontrollably, and when she finally
stopped, she explained that she didn’t feel sad, but couldn’t help
crying. It was later discovered that she had medical problems,
and her crying was a qigong healing reaction. By taking off his
glasses, Dr. Yan Xin emitted energy and treated her on the
spot.”

Alpine59 did you listen to the Padre Pio book?
Don’t get too caught up in the religious undertones. Language is actually unspoken, like the digital surround right here.
Environments speak; people react. That’s the message of the medium. People are generally shaped by things they know nothing about.
Padre Pio is a kungfu master.
“Thy Kingdom come, on earth as in Heaven.”
The Kingdom unifies heaven and earth. How? during deep meditative states the mind quiets down then the primordial forces awake. The body is modified by the spiritual forces and then eventually over a period of many years one becomes an immortal kungfu master!
Padre Pio spent many years in isolation in deep contemplative states.
Read the book. Then go read the Milarepa book too.
Yan Xin is a realised Buddha.
Anyway, one thing is for sure — one of us is deluded, right?
Ha, Ha!
