So far, Edgar has proven successful in integrating into his new surroundings, learning, and enhancing his quality of life. Despite his best efforts to stay off the radar and keep his talents a secret, he still needs to survive in a world full of unexpected dangers.
As an alchemist, he has a lot of groundbreaking discoveries to offer to the aristocratic society. But the daunting task is to find the right balance and preserve his integrity while pursuing his ambition. How can he be sure that people won’t use his innovations for malevolent purposes?
After the exams, Edgar took a well-deserved vacation, away from the shining lights of the capital. Upon return, he will have to decide whether it is a good idea to take a bold leap: to reveal his skills and assert his rightful place in the world, determined to reclaim his aristocratic status in full.
As if juggling two schools hasn’t been enough, Edgar now has a mentor and another important project. However, with new ventures come new obstacles and challenges, testing Edgar’s resolve like never before. Luckily, Ed isn’t one to back down easily!

Okay, this is book 3 in the series. Have yet to listen to this book myself (got it late last night).
Figured I’d up it before heading into work. Let me know what everyone thinks of this next installment in the series.
Have a great Thursday folks.

First of all — much thanks to the bd2232 for the uploads!
I would say that while the first book is somewhat above average, the second one is average, and the third one finally made me to give up on the series.
As usual for the modern fantasy/isekai/litRPG, the series loses its momentum and becomes an unfiltered stream of author’s consciousness after the initial premise has already exhausted itself and was abandoned.
What makes this worse is that the premise itself is very much false. The MC’s powers have nothing to do with the alchemy, but rather some kind of sigil magic — murky and undefined, and thus all-powerful to the extend the plot requires it.
The second thing I found problematic, is the inconsistent world building — on one hand it is a modern day civilization with well-established and widely-present technology like CCTV cameras, but on the other hand it is only on the very fist stages of developing computers (so that even the best university in the country doesn’t have one accessible for students, if at all). Even if we assume the surveillance cameras in question are analogue (i.e. based on VCR-like technology), it still requires electronic logic and semiconductors. Or, in other words, basically a computer of some sort.
The third problem is the messy plot line. A plot-driven story shouldn’t suddenly become a slice-of-life. The initial premise of a world destroyed by uncontrollable practice of magic (”alchemy”) in pursuits for personal power is forgotten by the author and the MC, for whom, supposedly, the prevention of the similar fate fallen on his new home-world is a priority.
The forth problem is the author’s attempts to philosophize. This only demonstrates how limited his worldview is, and he would be much better just skipping it all.
The fifth problem is the all-too-familiar state of moral bankruptcy. I won’t say much about it, because it has become the new norm. You’ll either agree or disagree.
The sixth problem is the general pace. As many other books of this genre, it starts full of energy and quick-paced, but gradually loses its momentum and slows down almost to a halt with unnecessary side-plots, unset payoffs and unpaid set-ups.
In summary, the main character enjoys his plot-armor and deus-ex-machina abilities, while not having any backbone or guiding principles what would put him above the rest of his peers. While it is fine for the power-trip style entertainment, these books present themselves as something more than just usual OP/harem/power-trip fantasies. Thus, it fails twice: first time as a more intellectual-oriented hero journey, as it lacks real moral base or well-developed world, and the second time as a low-brow entertainment “Bachelor Chow”, as it is too slow in pace and has too much exposition and unnecessary things.
