On the far side of the world, deep in former Soviet Central Asia, lies a stronghold called the Crossroads. It is run with an iron fist by a brutal warlord calling himself Sala Jihan. He is far more than a petty dictator, for Jihan holds the fate of nations in his grasp. To save a world slipping into chaos, Jihan must either fall or be controlled.

Good work Patwest! If anyone wants a mp3 version I will post it.
Looks like this may have been upconverted from 32kbps

You just can’t shut the fuck up can you Wheezy? You upload a few books on MAM and suddenly your hot shit? Your still small potatoes big mouth. If someone wants an MP3 they can convert it themselves, why would they possibly need you?

Thanks for the awesome upload! Great work! Really looking forward to this.

Wheezy probably meant no harm this time^_^

BTW if you need to convert, Freemake Audio Converter (free but deselect the add-ons during install).

WHEEZY, to upconvert: scale, a standard-definition image to fill the screen of an HDTV. I do not recall that term being used when referring to audio converting. However, for you information..
Here are the stats comparison after “converting” the .aax file to .m4a using Audials 10 (for recording) and iTunes (for playback)of Dead Six Part 1…
Kind: Audi3le .m4a
Size: 231.7 212.8
Bitrate: 64 kbps 58 kbps
Format: Enhanced (AAC) AAC
Channels: Stereo Stereo
Now, if anything, the sound is downgraded, but just a tad. For the file size & quality, IMHO, using .m4a format is better than .mp3 of equal size. However, not all devices can play this format, whereas, everything plays .mp3. Which is better?
Mpeg 3 audio (MP3) and Mpeg 4 audio (m4a) are both audio compression formats, managed by the Motion Pictures Experts Group (mpeg).
MP3 is an older lossy audio codec while mpeg 4 is newer than mp3, higher quality, and designed to replace it. With m4a, you can get higher quality with lower bitrates and file size, and THAT fits nicely for audiobooks.
PS: I am sorry in my rush to upload these two fine shares that I forgot to add the metadata. :P

Just another note for those who cannot find good player that likes .m4a. I have an Android phone with a wireless Bluetooth headset and use “Listen Audiobook Player” free from Google Play. I love this player for playback capabilities; getting my covers; and display.
However, if you cannot find a player that works for all the formats, then you can use iTunes to easily convert your files…
Go into iTunes > Preferences and on the General tab use the ‘import settings’ button to change the target ‘type’ to MP3 (you can change the bit rate here to Spoken Podcast) . Then close the Preferences popup, select/highlight the songs in your library that you want to convert, and then either use the File > Create New Version > Create MP3 menu option to convert them, or right-click and select ‘Create MP3 version’ on the popup (the ‘MP3′ will show if you select MP3 as the type in preferences, if you select a different format then that text will change accordingly).

First of all “ANonymous”- chill the hell out bro, you mad??? What are you yapping about? What the hell is MaM or whatever you are bitching about? I just googled it and nothing comes up, so clearly you must be talking out of your tail end.
Secondly, I meant no harm with the comment to begin with…why can’t I offer help to others without getting reamed? Seems like some people dont like anyone making things easier.
For your information Patwest, since clearly you work for the Motion Picture Association, upconverting can apply to many things not just video. Its when you take a lower quality source file, and UPCONVERT it to a higher level; although actually making it worse in reality. Like taking a VHS tape and making it High-Def (it’s just High-Def crap when all said and done).
So lets say you took the original .aa “Level-4″ quality file from Audible, which is basically a 32kbps/22khz MONO mp3 file (in a protected container, hence the converting) THEN you UPCONVERTED it to this 64kbps/58hz STEREO .m4b file you have just UPCONVERTED.
Unless you took the time to convert the “High-Quality” .aax audible file (which has to be done in real time playback using your sound card, where alternatively the .aa files can be converted in MINUTES with a little free program called dBPoweramp) then you upconverted. But the .aax files from audible are actually 64k/44100khz files, which are relatively close to what you got here, although they are in Joint-Stereo, not Stereo like you had. But good rip all said, good job. Just wanted to give ya some more info.
Also try Smart Audiobook Player for playback of any audiobook on Android. Has bookmarking, timers, album/book art finder, and even a nifty playback speed enhancer (from 1.1 to 2.5x) without chipmunking the voices. All free as well.
