Is there conservatives in the US? I thought they went extinct from excessive drinking, druging, shopping gambling & hardcore porn.

I’m not sure abt all that. If there’s millions of them reflexively going at it all the bloody time - both online & elsewhere - “You indoctrinated fascist/socialist window-snowflake-mom-basement-licker!” - then I think it’s very much entered the organic realm.
It’s essentially the same rant, with only slightly different dramatis personae. (Except not dramatic, and with no discernible personalities involved.)
People from all over the place (i.e. not Americans) involve themselves in these to-the-brain-death culture combats.
Reverse that: if there’s a heated by-election, or whatever, in Canada or the UK, American heads are probably not going to explode all over the internet. The most probable US reaction will be - “What’s a Canada/UK?”

Yes, I agree: the diatribe from both extremes is remarkably unappealing.
But having lived here a long time, I think an incredible amount of cultural DNA would need to be rewritten for a sea change to take place so the far left have real power. Don’t see it happening.
The far right on the other hand has a lot of power. While loudly beating the drum on the Constitution, they are steadfastly gutting what democratic processes we have.
If they pull off their goal of greatly diminishing or doing away with social security, millions of Americans will be destitute or on the door of it.
I sometimes wonder what William F. Buckley would make of today’s shabby shower.
This is a fatiguing country to live in, as we await and see if they can …

My brother has lived in California for abt 26 yrs & loved it. However, he’s returning now. He’s become dubious about whether it’s any country for old men.
The constitutional checks & balances seem reasonably durable from this vantage.
It’s the responsibility of the moderate majority to securely marginalise the most destructive elements of far left & far right. The margins - that’s where they belong, after all.

The CNP aren’t the “radical right”, they’re a bunch of Israel-firster Evangelicals. But I guess looking at that realistically would be more problematic than just pretending they’re all Nazis and Fascists.
There’s absolutely a strong thread of violent ethno-nationalism on the right, but it’s just zionism. And it’s just as strong on the left, save for small handful of exceptions.
