Once an S-Rank hunter, Kain is reborn at the start of the apocalypse… as an F-Rank.
With the System’s arrival 100 years ago, Earth was transformed into a deadly progression realm. Countless wars were waged, millions of lives were lost, and chaos descended. By the time Kain was born, humanity had lost. The monsters had triumphed.
All Kain ever knew was the colony and his role as a hunter within it. Its histories, its goals, its sustenance. This was all that mattered. Until one day, on a mission far beyond the colony walls, searching for other humans, Kain died.
But death, it seems, was not the end.
Reborn at the exact moment of the Integration 100 years prior, before all the war and destruction, Kain is given a second chance. With a previously believed-to-be-extinct Dao and a mysterious title, he needs to figure out the secrets of the future.
With the return of an S-Rank Hunter, maybe humanity will have a chance this time.

I’m always afraid of overpowered main character from start as it usually means no suspens regarding overcoming difficulties and winning fights.
So if anyone feels like sharing thoughts or review of this book, I’m interested. Thanks.

Personally didn’t really like this book too much. It felt like he just pulled a bunch of tropes from other series and tossed them all together. He has the MC kind of flop around in finding excuses for what he knows or does a lot. One moment he’ll be thinking about how the current people from the ‘past’ had it so easy with access to food and time for so much meaningless stuff when his time is 100% focused on survival and nothing else, only to turn around the next sentence and go on about how he spent time reading all he could about the past and life at the start of the system. It goes so far as to have him apparently disobeying what he was supposed to do for training to watch what some other faction does in his future time just so they have an excuse for how he knows how to do stuff he shouldn’t. All while constantly thinking to himself how he had to walk uphill both ways while focusing on nothing but survival, except when he doesn’t with all his free time.
There are other things that make little sense to be in the book and basically play a minor part and should have been either entirely removed or made into a larger plot line, but once again gotta hit those tropes. I’d say most characters feel rather flat to me. Beyond that the narrator is a little too monotone/bassy through most of it and makes it a little hard to tell what’s being spoken by the mc or are just his thoughts.

I dread it when people have future knowledge but they have a super over powered skill/power. What is the point of the future knowledge? If someone is going to be a OP MC can we make him a prick or selfish?
If I was a hundred times better than everyone else then I would be getting respect, fear or both plus everyone would know it.
No no no, I didn’t earn this power I was giving it but everyone needs to deal with me/it(the power). I won’t be the leader but I’ll pick the leader.

Second Chance Swordsman is a good way to explore this same premise, however the MC wasn’t OP before he got yeeted back in time, and although he does have some future knowledge it isn’t overplayed and things do change. From what I read here about this series I think I will have to lower my expectations. Also Return of XYZ, I think I see the first hint of the whole trope salad, Return of the Runebound Professor was great, this book might be trying to ride in the wake of others indeed.
