The plot revolves around a Union Army regiment from the American Civil War which gets transported to an alien world. The 35th Maine Infantry is being transported by ship from Virginia late in the war when they encounter a mysterious electrical storm and end up on a distant planet. The region they are in is populated by descendants of medieval Russians who still live a feudal existence at a medieval level of technology. They learn from their new hosts that there are various civilizations on this world made up of the descendants of people from various eras of Earth history.
The Union soldiers eventually discover a terrible secret that their Rus hosts have been keeping from them when the Tugars arrive. The Tugar are ten foot tall aliens with a culture and technology similar to that of the Mongol Horde. They ride a never-ending circuit around the planet. They have subjugated the human populations in their territory and use them as food. The Tugar visit each human society once a generation and cull part of the population for food. This culling keeps the humans docile and compliant and the Tugar make sure that none of the human societies become advanced enough to challenge them. The Union men are horrified by this revelation and kill the Tugar advanced scouts. They then support a peasant rebellion against the Tugar appointed lords and begin modernizing the Rus society. When the Tugar arrive they encounter a modern army equipped with cannon and rifled muskets. In a hard-fought battle the humans manage to prevail, weakening the Tugar Horde forever.
The next several books take up the story a few years later.

Yes something like 2 Days now since this was uploaded and its only at 52.5%.. Uploader has not been seeding at all since yesterday and then not more then the slightest trickle uptill then.

Sorry Monty, I have been seeding continuously for two days. I paused everything else, am not downloading anything, or doing anything except for seeding. It may be slow, 65-75 kBs, but that is all I am doing. So far I have uploaded 5.29 gigs. I see several receivers at more than 52.5%. I do not know if anyone beside me is seeding, as many have already received 100% of the upload.

Hey Monty, I checked and there are 6 other seeds (my assumption is that they downloaded the full copy) and none are seeding. I guess I have the only full copy that is being seeded, and I have uploaded 6.79 gigs, or over two full copies. I see lots of peers with 65+%. I will continue to seed for a while longer.

Yeah Tecumseh123 i noticed it worked out after day 2 when it started up again. I had a 10+ratio when it reached 100% and I am now uploading fullbore when I have utorrent ON. Thx for the re-upload this series needed a new seed since some of the older uploads uploads have issues with missing parts. Thx :)for the good work.
