This was definitely worth the candle and then some, finished the entire audio in 2 days….L M Kerr recently recovered from a nearly fatal accident and then went back to work to deliver one of the best in the series yet.
Michael and Shen are in tip-top shape and the threats they face are now God/Divine-tier - there are lots of clever scheming, power-levelling and a bevy of new OP characters, lots of emotional beats and Kerr ever meticulous and nuance way of writing fight sequences continues to engross me
Adam Stubbs continues to find the right pace and energy required to bring all of this to life.
I did however noticed that there’s an overuse of conjunctions that makes sentences just run on and on especially in the later chapters….this kinda drew me out of the story flow. Especially an overuse of “and” “and” “and” “and”, with each “and” Stubbs does an unnaturally weird pause, which instantly broke my immersion.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait another 2-3 years for Vol 6.
