Lol, and there goes Pinker ignoring the data provided by MIT which shows those who are anti-Covid-19-vaxx are, in fact, much better educated and informed than their peers. Their objections are coldly rational, in fact, based on data and objective fact.
But it’s important for the narrative to be rational, rather than the rational to be seen as rational in our wonderful world of doublespeak and the “ScienceTM”.

@GordonCoon it’s a shame that Pinker doesn’t know of your existence. You’d be the perfect case study to convince him that some people really are just utterly mental and completely irrational.
You’re the only person using doublespeak here. Science is something very clearly defined. And it’s something that you very clearly don’t believe in, despite claiming to have worked in the profession (which you almost certainly haven’t).

It’s got to the point where in Australia (where we have free healthcare) they are talking about charging anti-Covid-19-vaxx people for their hospital stays, the theory being they endanger healthcare works and prevent care of innocent sick people who don’t have any prevention choices.

I don’t know how “rational” the anti-vaxxers are, unless they’re keeping their most reasonable shock troops in quiet reserve, for some covert purpose.
They do a lot of foaming abt con theories, Jewish cabals, Rothschilds, & the like. A good deal of actual street-shouting, too - screaming at people who are wearing masks & going about their business. And then they go & fill the ICU (not talking abt the people who can’t, for various actual reasons, get the vaccine). As with con theorists generally, they give all the signs of being quite vulnerable, in truth.

As I’ve said before, if we had a pandemic of a virus like Ebola, there would soon be few anti-vaxers. Very quickly most anti-vaxers would be begging to get the vax. Any anti-vaxer who wants to challenge this is welcome to go visit the site of the next outbreak of Ebola, view the bodies and test their luck.

I don’t know of a study by MIT. But there was one that noted that point by researches from CMU and Pitt as seen below (a note with any thing though, correlation does not prove causation)
