@jodindy and, yes, I’m WELL AWARE that the Quarry books are already posted in low quality MP3 rips. These are in a different format and retail download quality. So, please, no need to remind me on every Hard Case Crime novel I share …

Some pointless trivia nobody will or should care about. This title got released because of me! Let me say it again with a little more conviction, haha.
No, it’s true. If you look at Audible release dates, it should show that it’s the one hold over title from the old days (as in audiobooks not published WITH the print releases like MAC’s new Quarry books). It took a while for this one to come out on Audible.
(Actually there are several that Stefan Rudnicki hasn’t recorded that are handled by other readers, just far less good as him.)
The reason for that is Stefan Rudnicki didn’t know about it. I’m a huge fan of Quarry and MAC. Along with MAC’s other detective books are what got me into Audible.
Stefan and I did a little email corresponding a few years back. Nothing involved. We’re not buddies (to my regret, haha). I asked where Quarrie’s Ex is. There was a CD only version on Amazon, but you could see just by the cover art that it was going to be sh*tty. I might even have bought it and booted that after hearing a minute of it.
Stefan said Audible would have it if it existed. I respectfully replied something like “nuh-uh!”
Suffice to say, he looked into it. I think it was a little more than a year later when I saw this go for preorder on Audible.
Now no one can say my life was a complete waste. I even really liked this one. There are a few turds in MAC’s library as a series goes on. This is one of the good ones, thank goodness. It’d have been less exciting for me if the punchline was, “I wrote Stefan back to say something like, “You removed the headstones, but left the bodies!!!”
As it happens, Stefan Rudnicki expressed his appreciation by naming his first born after me and we’re best friends to this day.
Just kidding, of course. He was super nice in answering a few of my emails over the years. If I have a question, I might email him and sometimes he replies and sometimes not. I doubt he remembers who I am. At least until MY first born comes along and I name him or her Stefan Rudnicki Quarry _THIS SPACE FOR RENT_ Valentine (my last name…maybe the mother could take the blank spot with her Dad’s last name…but only if it’s a son. Sorry, just kidding. I’m feeling goofy.)
The part about me putting Rudnicki on the trail of this book is absolutely true.
