If you actually bought this book and encoded it to just a 32 bit rate. WTF… If your going to spend the time at least encode it to a decent 64 or better yet 128. There are many people with good hearing that can tell a shitty compression rate and find it irritating to listen to. Your encoding rate should be for everyone, not just people that can’t hear very well.
I converted and encoded hundreds of cassette stories for upload on Demonoid so I have some understanding in this.

i agree with this ^. Also, the rudeness was pretty unnecessary considering that people who dont see probably arent going to bother reading it…I do seed (and am currently seeding this file,) yet i still didn’t finish reading it. it was a really long rant.

Thanks and 32 is great for books as far as I am concerned anything over 64 is waste of bandwidth and if someone needs bigger bit-rate it is easy enough to change, 32 is quicker to download and some people download them at 16 from audible

Your an idiot…you can’t encode any bit-rate higher than what it already is. You can only decrease from a higher bit-rate to a smaller one. And as mentioned above 32 bit rate does suck for people that enjoy the quality of a natural sound.

To hell with all of the assholes whining about your bit rate on this upload. You know what, this is exactly what’s wrong with this country. People get shit for free from a stranger that spends their own hard earned money and shares it with the cheap/broke pricks like us and then they whine about the audio quality. Do you hear hunger ravaged 3rd world countries complain about the quality of the rice and clean water we drop off over there? Nope, didn’t think so. Listen up people. There’s a word in the English language know as appreciation. You should look it up if you’re not familiar with it(seems most of you aren’t). Yeah, it’d be nice to have 128kbps copy but as long as this was available I probably wouldn’t download it. I mean, it’s the difference between 1 gig or more and 300mb: screw that. My ISP charges 10$ a gigabyte out here in BFE! And sometimes 32kbps is just fine if the person encoding it knows what they’re doing.

How the fuck was I supposed to encode it to a higher rate when the original from audible IS 32kbs!??! And yes I know what I am doing too anonomous, and if I could download a 128kbs copy to begin with I would have! But tell you what anonamous, I will encode next time to a higher rate like 128kbs from 32kbs just so it will be a bigger file size and make no difference at all quality wise cool big guy?
I only rant on here bc I upload a ton of books that just came out, on the day they came out, for example today I put up 5 books just released TODAY; and it is frustrating when 16 ppl in a row hit-and-run when I am seeding my ass off after I already finished tagging, downloading, decompressing, and uploading the files all day to begin with…I do all this bc I like for ppl to enjoy some of the things I do and I know some ppl actually appreciate it.
BTW, listen to this copy of this book and tell me it is shitty quality, bc I am pretty audio-educated, and it sounds amazing for the bit rate to me! Thanks to all the nice ppl here and I wilkl try better next timne for the others…:)

I downloaded this audiobook from audible myself and it is 64kbps for me. You can download different qualities from audible. I really wish yours would have been better quality because it seems like yours is the only one being passed around the web. I am looking to download a 64kbps version only because I do not know how to get rid of DRM from my audible files and I don’t want to have to stream it on my phone or listen from my desktop..

Hey — here’s an idea. If you don’t like the quality available here for FREE, why don’t you take your rude ass elsewhere and pay for a copy that suits your super sonic hearing capabilities? Wheezy took the time to pay for a copy, convert it and upload. If 32kb works for him, why should he change his settings to appease rude twats like you?

This one is reporting 10 seeders for me at the moment. Thanks for the upload!! I usually encode at 64kbs myself from audible, and it is definitely time consuming to prepare a proper torrent no matter how you do it, so people ought to just listen to my mother (if you can’t say something nice….)
I really appreciate proper tags, covers. etc. and love Joe Hill… WTG on this one.

Can I just say Thank You to Wheezy81, and to everyone who is bitching about a perfectly decent audio, especially those who say they have purchased it themselves, you try converting your 64 kbps aax file. Go on, try it, you’ll F A I L bcuz it’s not possible. You can only convert quality 4 and lower.
Additionally, as has been pointed out already, there is nothing to be gained from converting a32 kbps file to a 64 kbps file other than the waste of space to a hard drive.
Upshot it, shut up and provide a better copy if you can!

Note, I said aax files (they’re the 64 kbps files you mention). Now try converting them.

Wheezy. I encode all audiobooks using M4a 64 bit stereo and 44kb sample rate. I use iTunes or Audials 10 to re-encode. MP3 format is meant for music, and cannot thin down, whereas M4A was meant for voice only. When in iTunes, choose Preferences/General and Import Settings. Then choose AAC Encoder in the drop down box. After that, choose custom and Stereo bit rate 64, and sample rate 44. THEN, drag you file into a new playlist and right click. You will see the option now to “Create AAC Version”. After conversion, the file can be found in your Music/iTunes/iTunes Media directory. I hope this helps. Lots of people here do not know how to do this. ALSO, you can select all your converted files in iTunes in recently added, and then right click and “Get Info”. This is where you add the much appreciated metadata like album title, artist name and artwork. In the Options section, remember to save the file as an AUDIOBOOK, and select Remember Playback Position, and Skip Shuffle. That’s it, you are an audiobook sharer pro now. I hope others try this, as well. This format retains quality and lowers file size. :)
