On March 16, 2018, just twenty-six hours before his scheduled retirement from the organization he had served with distinction for more than two decades, Andrew G. McCabe was fired from his position as deputy director of the FBI. President Donald Trump celebrated on Twitter: “Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI - A great day for Democracy.”
In The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump, Andrew G. McCabe offers a dramatic and candid account of his career, and an impassioned defense of the FBI’s agents, and of the institution’s integrity and independence in protecting America and upholding our Constitution.
McCabe started as a street agent in the FBI’s New York field office, serving under director Louis Freeh. He became an expert in two kinds of investigations that are critical to American national security: Russian organized crime?which is inextricably linked to the Russian state?and terrorism. Under Director Robert Mueller, McCabe led the investigations of major attacks on American soil, including the Boston Marathon bombing, a plot to bomb the New York subways, and several narrowly averted bombings of aircraft. And under James Comey, McCabe was deeply involved in the controversial investigations of the Benghazi attack, the Clinton Foundation’s activities, and Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server when she was secretary of state.
The Threat recounts in compelling detail the time between Donald Trump’s November 2016 election and McCabe’s firing, set against a page-turning narrative spanning two decades when the FBI’s mission shifted to a new goal: preventing terrorist attacks on Americans. But as McCabe shows, right now the greatest threat to the United States comes from within, as President Trump and his administration ignore the law, attack democratic institutions, degrade human rights, and undermine the U.S. Constitution that protects every citizen.
Important, revealing, and powerfully argued, The Threat tells the true story of what the FBI is, how it works, and why it will endure as an institution of integrity that protects America.

What an ironic title considering the fact that two years into the FBI’s politically motivated investigation on Trump, and even Democrats admit that there’s no evidence of a Russian-Trump collusion. There’s one thing that we can be sure of, the FBI will use it’s power to do whatever’s necessary to protect itself and the power it wields.

Some people just can’t stand for the truth to come out.

Kind of funny really. The FBI has been a corrupt, political organization with an agenda from the time Hoover started running it.
Long past time it was dissolved and something else created from scratch to take its place.

Thank you for this. I have not read this book so it would be ridiculous to comment about it or to editorialise, pontificate in advance about any of its content. Looking forward to the author’s point of view.

“Even Democrats admit that there’s no evidence of a Russian-Trump collusion.” Wow seriously? What universe do you live in?

So hilarious seeing the conspiracy theories about ther FBI trying to “get Trump”.
The FBI was investigating Trump’s links with Russia, with good cause, in 2016, and not a peep was made public. Meanwhile, the whole farce about Hillary’s email was the subject of leaks and press conferences up to the last weeks of the campaign and undoubtedly lost her votes in what was a very close election. Any of the FBI guys being demonised by Trump now, including McCabe, could have destroyed Trump’s chances by simply leaking what they knew about Russian links.

Admiral, such a great answer to Jimminy, that it bears repeating.
Guilty pleas or convictions of:
Paul Manafort
Rick Gates
Michael Flynn
Richard Pinedo
Alex van der Zwaan
Konstantin Kilimnik
Michael Cohen
Roger Stone
Papadopoulos
13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies
12 Russian GRU officers
So don’t say “no evidence of Russia-Trump” - this guy has more Russian contacts than a Bausch and Lomb store in Moscow.

“After two years and 200 interviews, the Senate Intelligence Committee is approaching the end of its investigation into the 2016 election, having uncovered no direct evidence of a conspiracy between Trump campaign and russia, according to both Democrats and Republicans on the committee.”
-Ken Dilanian, NBC News, Feb 12, 2019
The list offered above is not evidence of a Russian-Trump collusion, but evidence of a rogue court and an out of control DOJ. It is imaginative speculation to think of it as anything more. The DOJ and FBI want nothing more than a resurrection of the Salem witch trials.
What about
Andrew McCabe
James Comey
Peter Strzok
Andrew Weissman
???
Meanwhile, allegations have been confirmed of a ‘quid pro quo’ between a senior State Department exec. and FBI agents during Clinton’s email investigation.
Let’s talk about real collusion:
The Russian Uranium One deal with Hellary Clinton, of which she reaped tens of millions of dollars.
There’s Bill’s Trilateral Statement and the G-8.
What about Obama and Hellary’s Russian Reset while they still occupied Georgia?
Then there was Hellary’s Skolkovo, which the FBI warned would enhance Russia’s military and cyber capabilities.
During Obama’s reelection campaign, he promised Putin more flexibility on missile defense.
Nothing to see here, please move along.
Sorry, but I’m afraid Hellary only has herself to blame for having lost the election.

The difference in treatment of Tony Podesta vs. Paul Manafort shows the politicization of the FBI.

I wonder if McCabe can get book proceeds in Gitmo? Because that’s likely where he’s going. The man all but admitted to treason and sedition against a sitting President. He lied to Congress under oath, that’s a fact. He helped plot a coup d’etat with other Obama holdovers like Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Ohr, Lerner, Strzok and Page to overturn the 2016 election by allowing illegal FISA spying on Trump’s campaign and post-win Administration. It’s easily the biggest political scandal in American history and makes Watergate look like a quaint burglary, and yet from the MSM and left, nothing but crickets. Goes to show you just how much political partisanship can warp even basic American notions of Justice completely in people’s minds, purely out of unmitigated hatred of Trump.

More Trump-bashing horse-feces! But thanks for your other incredible posts…just not this one.

Being a Canadian, I just shake my head and chuckle at the Trumpeteers. I really feel sad for them, and the way they truely believe Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
On the other hand, I enjoyed this book. If for no other reason than McCabe tells a good story. Only history will say if anything is true or not, but it’s an interesting ride.
I’m glad some people might have actually listened to / read this book instead of commenting on it before even downloading it, if they actually did. I love reading the opinions from people who never read the book, based on nothing but the title or the author.
If ignorance is bliss, they must be ecstatic.

Whitewolf225, with all due respect, one doesn’t need to listen to a dissertation as to why someone thinks the earth is flat, to know that if that’s what they’re claiming, then they are wrong. Truth is, it is the FBI that America needs to be protected from. There is an old adage in America, “absolute power, corrupts absolutely.” Oh, and uh, by the way, I’m not a “Trumpeteer” who believes that Trump is the savior of America. BUT, I do believe that America needs saving. I respect your right to your opinion, and have given reason for my disagreement, and without ad hominum attacks. Have a nice day.

Never once did I point any fingers… just to be clear.

This book was so goddamned gay, it almost gave me AIDS.
March 4th, 2019
Excellent book, I actually read it as opposed to most of the other comments here. It’s certainly well written… there are some Trumpsters here who might learn something about the FBI, Justice Dept and our president (the historical norms) that they don’t get from Faux News.

Oh my God I can’t believe you libtards think that the 17 intelligence agencies are telling the truth! Obviously only Donald Trump tells the truth.
In case you’re keeping score Russia investigation 34 indictments.
Hillary Clinton Benghazi investigation 0 indictments
Hillary Clinton email investigation zero indictments.

This book is laughable!
A disgraced, and fired, FBI official who behaved like Stalin and Hitler.
You’re the type of person that Freedom fears.
An attempted political coup by a group of third rate, second story clowns.
Fired one day before he could qualify for a pension. Not enough punishment, but it will have to do for now.
October 9th, 2020
He warned us and look where we are now. 215,000 dead and a deranged, demented, so-called president.
March 3rd, 2024
Thank you for your service Mr McCabe. You will forever be know as being on the right side of history. People here believing comfortable lies aren’t taken as seriously as they lead themselves to be.
