A comprehensive analysis of the key issues of the Black Lives Matter movement, this thought-provoking and compelling anthology features essays by some of the nation’s most influential and respected criminal justice experts and legal scholars. Contributing authors include Bryan Stevenson, director of the Equal Justice Initiative, NYU Law professor, and author of the New York Times best seller Just Mercy; Sherrilyn Ifill, president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund; Jeremy Travis, president of John Jay College of Criminal Justice; and many others.
Policing the Black Man explores and critiques the many ways the criminal justice system impacts the lives of African American boys and men at every stage of the criminal process, from arrest through sentencing. Essays range from an explication of the historical roots of racism in the criminal justice system to an examination of modern-day police killings of unarmed black men.
The coauthors discuss and explain racial profiling, the power and discretion of police and prosecutors, the role of implicit bias, the racial impact of police and prosecutorial decisions, the disproportionate imprisonment of black men, the collateral consequences of mass incarceration, and the Supreme Court’s failure to provide meaningful remedies for the injustices in the criminal justice system. Policing the Black Man is an enlightening listen for anyone interested in the critical issues of race and justice in America.

Stop breaking the laws & you won’t be arrested.

The title “Policing the Black Man” sounds like an excellent idea.
Will someone be telling Lori Lightfoot that this might be the solution to her crime problem?

Racists think there isn’t any racism. Just look at the first two comments.

Ah yes, the violent racism of truth.
And a generation of madmen who think you can deny the truth and somehow make it someone else’s fault.
Bless.
Have a biscuit.

@GordonCoon you mean the truth like “until as recently as the 70s black people were routinely legally denied equal access to education, goods, services and housing, which had knock-on effects in terms of poverty, which has always correlated with crime rates more than skin colour has.”
You’ll draw attention to when fact black people are criminals, but you’ll fight tooth and nail to prevent any conversation as to why.
Reading your comment again, you’re projecting like crazy.

White people should stop policing the black man. Let him live the way he wants to.

Ah yes, the ability to blame your criminal behavior on anyone but yourself.
This is, indeed, a function of modern leftism, providing excuses for the criminal class that their politicians created.
It’s quite amazing though that there are plenty of other poor minority communities that have been through untold hardships and yet, none of them are quite so addicted to a life of crime.
But remember, evidence is bad, excuses are good.

Could someone seed, please?

no crime, no police encounters.
there. problem solved. you’re welcome.

If anyone is able and willing to re-seed, it’d be appreciated. After going without seeders it looked to be seeding for a brief moment, only to stop abruptly… I’m currently sitting at 38%.
