If you open the cue file with your player instead of the main file all the markers are built in (another reason m4b is so good) & only loads one chapter at a time allowing you to skip back an forth (its how i listen).

Thanks for the effort but there is something wrong with the file.
It plays fine in VLC, on my iPod however, the audio stops somewhere in chapter 8 or 9 (the part marked 8 or 9 in the m4b file).
It should also be mentioned that like far to many audiobooks this file is in stereo.
Stereo sound in a voice only audiobook is a waste of space. Graphic audio and the like need stereo, voice only doesn’t, please save 50% of the file size by encoding it in mono.

That’s another reason i up lossless 64bit m4b’s…from there u can do …losey mp3…split by chapter mp3…32 re-encodes in sterio/mono or blah blah blah whatever rabbit hole u wanna go down.
If i simply up’d starting from the bottom there’s nowhere to go after that, least this way u can take the original file an run with it any which way u like.

I like the though behind it, and I don’t know how the base files are when you them, but wouldn’t split m4a’s be easier to recode, sort and build into personalised m4b’s?

What whackbag shares here is the original Audible aax file (decrypted). As far as Audible sourced files are concerned, that is the highest quality possible.
I think the included cue sheet would come handy when transcoding is desired.
Also, stereo sound in audiobook (mp3/mp4) takes no extra space at all.

ahh, didn’t know how the original files were coded. and yes that cue sheet is a lifesaver when I cut em down to seperate files per chapter. Takes about 1 minute per book instead of hours of searching for the correct times.
as for the mono/stereo thing… how come I shed about half the filesize if I transcode the file to mono with the same bitrate?
I’m not argueing here btw, I honestly want to know if I’m overlooking something when I transcode my audiobooks.

I use “Smart Audiobook Player” and have NEVER had a single problem with Whackbags uploads.. NEVER … try it there is a free version and a paid version(few $) which i use because it has a few more features. Great player though. THANK YOU WHACKBAG!!

For those not getting sound on your iPhone after an hour or so, try downloading an alternate audio book player. I just grabbed bookmoble (free download) from the app store. Seems to be doing the trick so far.

There is something wrong with the cue file. The file doesn’t work with any player I’ve tried (Foobar2000 and VLC), and when I try to open it in Medieval Cue Splitter, I get this:
Warning Description: Type parameter for “FILE” command is empty or unknown!
‘MP4′, Line: 1
Error Description: Time parameter for “INDEX” command is bad or empty!
‘49:12:83′, Line: 13
Error Description: Critical error: operation interrupted at line 13., Line: 13
I’d appreciate any help with this.

Had same problem with it going silent if i paused it or went back or forward after about 1/2 through chapter 4. If I let it play it would go on but I couldnt get it to work after a pause. GREAT Book, just needs some help with the file. BTW this was on my iPhone using iBooks.

Here to second using an app that isn’t ibooks for the mp4 file. I had to add it through itunes on my mac(ie, it wouldn’t let me move it from ibooks on my phone) but now i can select which track I want to listen to easily.

Also having issues with the sound shutting off on iphone around the one hour mark. Plays okay on itunes… but that does me no good.
I am using a third party audio book app.
Hope the other mp3 file on this site doesnt have the same problems

The file is OK. However, it’s 55 hours long and some players can’t handle it.
Get some simple audio tools to split it if that’s your problem.
Ask for help in the forum, thee comments are not regularly monitored.
