Ruth Ogilvie is a single mum struggling with the every day pressures of life plus a demanding rebellious 15 year old daughter Heather. They live up in the Highlands of Scotland in a beautiful but remote area near Balmoral. Fortunately Ruth has a boyfriend called Charlie who helps support her to deal with all her worries including her daughter who keeps pushing the boundaries set by her mother.
However when Ruth discovers her schoolgirl daughter is seeing the 22-year-old son of the laird Randal, she acts to bring a stop to it. She visits the Castle and its owners Caspar and Milly Gow his parents to resolve it. Who are planning for the opening of the Castle to the Public in several months time. They agree this must be brought to an immediate halt and this could be very dangerous for all concerned.
Two nights later, Heather does not return home and when her friend is quizzed on this she admits she is with her boyfriend. Ruth and Charlie leave it till next morning before confronting Randal’s parents as it turns out he has disappeared to and they know no more than Ruth and Charlie. The Police are called and they start a search of this remote region, when they find his car by the ski lift. The weather is terrible but finally a few days later they discover a body, but who is it and what is going on?
