Once upon a time it was assumed that CHILDREN could actually read the original books. And adults (often at school) would read the originals to classes full of children.
So what’s with this Orwellian elimination of the originals, and their replacement with ‘plitically crrect’ or dmbed down versions.
Recent events have proven the ‘ladybird’ imprint to be very worrisome project.
If your kids are too young for the originals (and I’d argue no-one is too young for the audiobook versions of the original kids’ classics), then there are plenty of original simpler childrens’ stories to seek out in place of watered down versions of books that should never be watered down.
