When I went out target shooting in the woods, I wasn’t expecting to be abducted by a race of alien bunny girls from another star system.
They weren’t there for me; they didn’t even know there was intelligent life on Earth. They were just conducting some battle drills in the forest and they saw me practicing my shot for my family’s annual hunting trip.
Now, short a good marksman, they want me to help to defend their ‘portal’ on Alpha Centauri from a race of aggressive robot AI killers, the very race that conquered their home star and the dozen stars they retreated to after each defeat. If the robots take Alpha Centauri, Sol – Earth’s star – is next.
I don’t think my friends and family would appreciate being enslaved by deadly alien robots….
Not too bad of a book in the series and, the small format isn’t too bad either to put it on your phone and go with it….saves you on some room without any quality loss.

32k is to distorted to enjoy listening to.

I think 32k mono AAC is fine for audiobooks, but only with decent quality earphones. ABR better than VBR for speech.

Well, I do understand some people not liking the lower rate for sound but, I didn’t find much of a difference. However, since I got it and didn’t buy it, I just upped as is. I do (if I rip myself or get it from my normal group of friends) to do higher quality rates but, free is free and, at the moment….I’ll take it at any rate.:)

For the playback, you may need to adjust, with an equalizer to make it sound better. Regardless, the narration isn’t anything to call home about…

@Xif: I’ll take a look or ask in the group I tend to trade audiobooks with if they have any of them you listed.
I agree, more RPG in the 2nd one would be nice but, for a first book in a series I kinda like it.
