J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” unofficial unabridged audiobook. Not only read by me, but with music by Howard Shore (for the film trilogy), and immersive sound effects that provide the written word with a more lifelike experience.
As of 2013, I have completed the entire book, which combined make up 48 hours of listening. Being a one-man venture, this little side-project is not without its errors and minor glitches and mistakes. I have also painted most of the background images on each video frame, and designed each cover.

To illodiini: there doesn’t seem to be any major difference between the files, and strictly speaking this should probably be classified as a duplicate torrent, but I for one am happy that Wendals87 put it up because I wasn’t aware of the previous one and wouldn’t have missed this great title.

I’m downloading this again because it was uploaded in 2021 and I’m hoping beyond hope that it’s a newer version.
I understand Phil has tried to fix little issues here and there over the years. Sadly, the version I have is starting to drive me crazy with errors. Some of the S’s are pronounced with a whistle that pierces through my head. And there are mixing errors which make it difficult to hear his narration due to the loudness of the music and sound effects.
The (very) rare mispronunciations are not nearly as bothersome. He has been aware of them, and I read elsewhere (in a 2014 post) he has even corrected, but they’re not corrected on my version.
We really need to find a new place to get it with version identifiers such as “V1.0″ etc.
This has the potential to be the greatest Audio Drama ever. If anyone knows how to get a hold of the newest files, please let us know.

The best version of the greatest fantasy ever written. Phil I wish you had been paid so much money for what you created because to me Tolkien’s words with the audio score from the movies is the best version of these stories.
