Only one sentence long, but gun nuts can only quote the last 4 words, ignore the clear intent that this was for the defense of the state, not to enable vigilante murderers to roam free.

Registration and full background checks are reasonable policies. But I imagine that will have the 2nd Amenders clutching their faux pearls. The idea behind the 2nd amendment is intended to guarantee the right of the people to take up their guns and rise up against a tyrannical government.
You do realize that the president is the Commander-in-Chief of the US military, right? The moment any well-armed “militia” even attempts to rebel against the government by violence, one battalion of US Marines would completely destroy that “militia.” Even if you are in possession of AK-47s, modified AR-15s, hell- even fully-automatic 12-gauge shotguns, no matter how many of you there are, you still don’t stand a chance.
But then, that’s not why so many cling to their guns, is it?

Thing that always amuses me is the defence of the 2nd Amendment as if it were a sacrament. Yet the clue is in the name - it’s an AMENDMENT … so can be changed to suit the times. Thank the non-existent Gods I don’t live in the US.

FFS. You think a constitution will have a clause that negates all the rules about elections, separation of power, to give a license to kill to any disgruntled asshole who doesn’t like the outcome of an election?
Go to Somalia or Afghanistan is you want to see how a country where elections are decided by the bullet works out.
