Ha. I went ahead and spent two credits on this and book two :)
This last ones a bit less believable than 1 and 2… In fact its all a bit contrived, but its well read, not bad as a series.

I say contrived because the story feels unrealistic. As a long time scifi reader im always up for suspending disbelief to a certain degree, but it feels like im suspending it a little too often when i read these.
Take for example the new alloy they discover in the alien ruins - seven years later and their whole city is build out of it. No explanation given - we must presume, contrive, that these colonists have some serious industrial tech. The reader is never told about it and it has no meaningful bearing on the story, but its there for some reason.
Another conceit is the way everyone handles the demise of sol and the coming apocalypse as if its just another battle. Not for a moment was any of the characters particularly affected by anything more than fear for their personal safety.
As science fiction goes its primitive.
