A detailed guide to surviving history’s most challenging threats, from outrunning dinosaurs to making it off the Titanic alive
History is the most dangerous place on earth. From dinosaurs the size of locomotives to meteors big enough to sterilize the planet, from famines to pandemics, from tornadoes to the Chicxulub asteroid, the odds of human survival are slim but not zero—at least, not if you know where to go and what to do.
In each chapter of How to Survive History, Cody Cassidy explores how to survive one of history’s greatest threats: getting eaten by dinosaurs, being destroyed by the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, succumbing to the lava flows of Pompeii, being devoured by the Donner Party, drowning during the sinking of the Titanic, falling prey to the Black Death, and more. Using hindsight and modern science to estimate everything from how fast you’d need to run to outpace a T. rex to the advantages of different body types in surviving the Donner Party tragedy, Cassidy gives you a detailed battle plan for survival, helping you learn about the era at the same time.
History may be the most dangerous place on earth, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visit. You can, and you should. And with a copy of How to Survive History in your back pocket, you just might make it out alive.

i don’t want to brag, but I’ve already survived all of these things. I also survived Y2K, H1N1, 2012, Monkey Pox and Obama.
Hold on, someone’s at the door. I think it’s killer bees. But, honestly, how bad can they be ?

You missed Trump and the rise of the pure stupid of qnon. We are still going through that. After god, nothing is more powerful than stupidity. Use the stupid Luke let it flow through you. Now turn off your targeting computer and fire blind.

I didn’t miss it. Your second sentence answers why I didn’t mention it. My best friend is blind. He’s literally the reason people would need a targeting computer.
And, for the record, The Grimace is stronger than stupidity. Nothing can kill The Grimace.

And before you ask. It was Nic Cage at the door.
NOT THE BEES !!!

People bring politics into any random situation these days, as if their hot takes are worth anything. Truly sad to virtue signal to your alt-right brethren on a torrent site.

In a year or two this will be viewed as the good ole days. Runaway climate change and all the other Overshoot consequences will continue to get bigger and badder. No one will be untouched by the consequences no matter how much money and power they think they have. Whatever you once survived don’t matter much because humans are in unprecedented territory on the rate of change for a whole bunch of nasty things.
Say what you will but with climate change & overshoot, I’m batting a 1000. It’s been a no brainer for 2 decades for anyone who looked and wasn’t a political radical. The left is in huge denial too. They are magical thinkers with true believer faith in some techno fix that has not yet been invented and what has had successful proof of concept don’t matter. Rolling thing out at scale is what mattered, but decades ago. The only card the humans have left is to prepare and protect what critical infrastructure and homes and business that can with little cost. A societal triage of sorts, but not for people. At least not at first.
Just wait until millions go hungry for the first time in over a century. In a short term disasters, is actually when humans are at their best - risking life & limb to save neighbors and strangers. Once it dawns on folks that grinding poverty is the new normal, is when you’ll see the worst of humans. Then you say to your neighbor, ‘I’m sorry, but you and your kids have to die today, so me & my kids can die tomorrow’.
