The clearest and most useful book on the basics: This book presents an excellent and comprehensive overview of Gurdjieff’s “the work” with wonderfully clear examples and explanations of its practical applications.
Best book about The Work: Until I found your book, the literature (Commentaries, etc.) about the Work was quite immense and confusing. Now I am able to do the practices and find my life and my self changing at long, long last.
Friedman’s book has translated Gurdjieff into ordinary understandable English. I would highly recommend this book as a place to start.
I have more than 50 books on Gurdjieff’s and Ouspensky’s Work on my shelves, but this is no doubt the most practical one for beginners.
I want to express my appreciation for for your Beginner’s Guide to Guerdjieff’s philosophy. Before reading your book, I have read several books on Guerdjieff , and at times, got lost in the complexity of what I was reading, and left wondering. It is not until I read your book, that Gurdjieff’s philosophy emerged to the light, and resonated deeply within me.

Dr Robert Katsunoff was an acolyte of ouspensky/gurdjieff and practised occultism too. Put ‘em all in a figurative blender and vomited stuff that the Holy Creator God condemned in His Book called the Bible.

Wait, spaniel1, you mean, the bible shouldn’t be messed with because “God” said this or “God” said that? Oh jebus, some people. Craptianity is just as made up as the next thing, just as occult as the next thing. Just as ****FALSE**** as the next thing. Some folks at least try to make the journey interesting. Bible people just use the authority of god to boss other people around because they are petty, afraid and week.

Dear Spaniel1,
I wish you well in your journey. I learned more about everything, including the bible, using what I learned from studying the way of the sly man.
Gurdjieff could “read between the lines” of the bible. In fact, he wrote his own books using the methods employed in the bible to impart esoteric knowledge.
“The Kingdom” is a state of conscience.
