Abraham & Isaac? You do realise that the purpose of that passage was to emphasise the prohibition on child sacrifice - which had been a broad custom? And human sacrifice, generally? It’s achieved in the most effectively memorable narrative form.
Anyone who has genuinely read it, and still can’t comprehend it, is also going to have some serious trouble understanding their electricity & grocery bills.

True, God is good…by definition. Read Plato’s Euthyphro wherein Socrates asks:
Soc. We shall know better, my good friend, in a little while. The point which I should first wish to understand is whether the pious or holy is beloved by the gods because it is holy, or holy because it is beloved of the gods.

Euthyphro’s great. The Christian concept of God (First Cause) as pure, creative love, goodness & non-competitive being (the Hellenic pantheon were ruthlessly competitive, & merely other powerful beings within the universe) squared it away.
