What if the rules of modern capitalism were written during the Third Reich?
Reinhard Höhn (1904-2000) was a commander of the SS, one of Nazi Germany’s most brilliant legal minds, and an archetype of the fervid technocrats and intellectuals that built the Third Reich. Following Germany’s defeat, after a few years in hiding, he emerged in the early 1950s as the founder and director of a renowned management school in Lower Saxony.
Höhn’s story wouldn’t be very different from that of many other prominent Nazis if not for the fact that a vast number of Germany’s postwar business leaders—more than 600,000 executives—were educated at his management school.
In this fascinating book, Johann Chapoutot, one of France’s most brilliant historians, traces the profound links between Nazism and the principles of modern corporate management, our definitions of success, and a concept of personal freedom that masks rigid hierarchical structures of power and control.
“One of the most gifted European historians of his generation.”—Timothy Snyder, New York Times best-selling author of On Tyranny

Anyone know why this guy wasn’t tried at Nuremberg, found guilty and hung by the neck until dead for war crimes?

I can’t find anything on it, which probably means either 1) he bribed the right people or 2) the right people thought he was useful and agreed with him.

Had to auto-translate it from sauerkraut speech but here you go:
After the war , Höhn procured false papers under the name of Rudolf Haeberlein and escaped denazification . He had his daughters call him “Uncle Rudi” and worked as a non-medical practitioner in Lippstadt . From 1950 he practiced under his real name and got into trouble with the authorities because he started his naturopathic practice under the title “Prof. Dr. led. In 1958, a West Berlin court sentenced him to a fine of 12,000 DM for his activities during the National Socialist era. Many of Höhn’s writings from the National Socialist era were published in the Soviet occupation zone and in the German Democratic Republicplaced on the list of discarded literature . [9] [10] [11]

Assuming my historical information is accurate and my conversion math is right 12,000 DM in 1950 would be worth about $150,000 in present US dollars. So… 3% of what that guy who emulated the Nintendo switch was fined.

The moral of the story being, it is better to participate in genocide than to be caught interfering with the profits rich people make.

@pbcaddy “Anyone know why this guy wasn’t tried at Nuremberg, found guilty and hung by the neck until dead for war crimes?”
Because he had committed no crime and it’s barbaric to hang people just because they lost a war, it had never been done before Nuremberg and the best legal minds of the era had huge reservations about the whole thing.
Besides, for all the flak they’ve been geting lately, Nazis weren’t all bad, they had a ton of good ideas, they were the first to introduce animal rights into legislation p.ex., they managed to massively improve the living standards of working Germans in just a few short years by decoupling from international financial markets and it restored dignity to people, which young JFK was so famously impressed by. They managed to return a certain pride and wholesomeness to society and it led to so many unprecedented achievements and social advancements that ever since countries have tried to copy their strategies to foster a sense of brotherhood and solidarity in a nation, social cohesion is a qua non for solidarity, personal sacrifice, a sense of duty and decency and commitment to public good.
