No, no, Apollo, these are supposed to be FAKE, not “fake” as Trump would use the term. Actually and really fake, not trump-fake. For example, if one said “apollo60 is a sane, rational, reasonable human being capable of thought and reason, who doesn’t rely on the lunatic fringe for his information”, now THAT would be a good example of what fake means. Just try to relax and try to find a challenging and rewarding hobby, like cutting out paper dolls, though that may be too difficult in your present state.

The insecurity of the resident libs is hilarious to behold.
When you know, deep down in your soul, that your beliefs are loathsome lies, you have to defend them, no matter where they are attacked because your deepest fear is exposure to the truth.
Bless, it takes a lot of effort to be that mentally defective, but it’s effort that it appears many are willing to put in.

Self-delusion is rife everywhere.Though I would not hold out much hope that anybody’s gonna hear this book and change their existing mind set.
What I find unfailingly true, particularly on here, is that people only want their pre-judgement confirmed. They will ignore or pour scorn on anything that does not suit their world view.

Most folks don’t want the actual, factual hist record - they desire self-serving, comforting myth. A constellation of diverting, enchanting tales that will buttress their cherished prejudices.
Innocuous enough on an individual basis; societally, it makes for a dangerously false narrative. Policies can be shaped & people make disastrous decisions on the “strength” of this nonsensical, bogus prospectus Consider Brexit: nostalgia for a past that never was; and the dark people are coming to change everything. Toxic bigotry & hatred are perpetuated by such means.

caesar, I don’t think Brexit was all about reminiscing for a halcyon past that didn’t exist. I for one, was pro Brexit because of the bureaucracy in Brussels and the burden on other states by states such as Greece, who are completely incompetent at managing a country.
I worked for several global/EU companies and enjoyed the benefits of being a member of the EU - even living abroad for a time.
I try not to think too hard on the decision I made. I would like to believe it was the right one at the time, but doubt does creep in every now and then.

I hope it goes well for ya, Tigerman. My suspicion is that it’ll only really benefit the boss class, and that was its purpose. Jacob Rees-Mogg reckons that the benefits of leaving the EU may not be felt for 50 yrs, at the earliest. Longer than you guys were actually in the economic union. Recall also that many Tories - like Jacob, who moved his business to Ireland in order to avail of continued EU benefits - have interests & residences within the EU. Nigella’s dad, Nigel Lawson, lives in a lovely château, in the south of France. He used to give interviews from his home in France, railing against being in the EU.
Of course, there are unavoidable benefits to being within the wealthiest trading bloc in history. The electoral profile has already begun to alter, and a generation not far from now will likely want to rejoin. It remains to be seen whether they will be offered anything like what Britain already had - or if, indeed, there even will be a Britain, as currently constituted.
I don’t think the nostalgia & race issues were on the minds of all voters, but given the close margins, they would certainly have been determining factors. The Brexit side did not concentrate on immigration for no reason at all.

Unfortunately, every single person I know who voted for Brexit stated that one of the main reasons they did so was to “take back control of our borders”. Funding the NHS was seen as a secondary benefit, and vague ramblings about bureaucracy tended to be branded about by people who wanted to sound like they knew what they were talking about.
Brexit was a fantasy sold by people who wanted to be in positions of power more than they wanted to better the country. After the whole rise of BNP, EDL, Britain First, and UKIP, one of the most obvious things to do was exploit the general sense of xenophobia that’s arisen since the 2008 economic crisis.

I found this to be very good. The author is excellent narrator as well. Employs a fair amount of British wit to move it along.
Doesn’t really break any new ground aside from the bit about the authors family examples that are cleverly used from time to time. Certainly doesn’t mean you will be familiar with all these either.

If you believe that Apollo60’s list/beliefs are irrational, insane and incapable of thought and reason, well just sit back on your butt with your ever present laptop molded to your lap and watch your country quickly collapse into a fascist, socialist tragedy. You will soon lose most of the freedom and liberty you now take for granted. I can’t imagine what the hundreds of thousands of young men (mostly teenagers) who died horrible deaths to preserve our countries liberty must be (if there is an afterlife) thinking; looking down from above. It’s all going down fast and it might be too late. Sadly, I see a Civil War in our countries future, far worse than any war ever fought.
P.S. I read every radical left, conservative and libertarian books that I can get my hands on. Oh well, back to work.
