More than 30 years after his landmark book Evolution: A Theory in Crisis (1985), biologist Michael Denton revisits his earlier thesis about the inability of Darwinian evolution to explain the history of life. He argues that there remains “an irresistible consilience of evidence for rejecting Darwinian cumulative selection as the major driving force of evolution.” From the origin of life to the origin of human language, the great divisions in the natural order are still as profound as ever, and they are still unsupported by the series of adaptive transitional forms predicted by Darwin. In addition, Denton makes a provocative new argument about the pervasiveness of nonadaptive order throughout biology, order that cannot be explained by the Darwinian mechanism.

It’s 2019 and there are still simpletons arguing against Darwin because they believe in a magical cloud fairy. This is about as scientific as scratching your ring piece and sniffing it to predict the weather.

Next you’ll be insisting that the Earth is not flat?!!

“The Biology of the Baroque” is a documentary that explores the amazing patterns, order, and beauty in biology that go beyond what can be explained by Darwinian evolution. It features geneticist Michael Denton and is inspired by Denton’s book Evolution: Still a Theory in Crisis (2016).

It’s interesting how people fight to protect Darwin and refuse to follow the scientific process. The absolutes people attach to science when they want to believe something is interesting. People, science don’t deal in absolutes, only evidence, and what can be tested. A significant part of Darwin’s theory can’t be tested, yet it’s held as infallible…I wonder why! Any scientist worth their salt knows there are questions, many questions, about the theory. The problem is the courage to confront those questions in the face of the horde protecting their absolutes. To think they call themselves scientists is laughable. This brings to mind the current crisis in physics.
By the way, I have not read or listened to this book, and I choose to reserve judgement until I hear his evidence and reasoning. It might very well be bonkers, but until then I’m curious.

Well, the book is still a total load of manure. Guy gives wrong analysis of evolution theory and then debunks it. Very old tactic.

It’s interesting when people project and create strawmen arguments.
When you’ve debunked any of these 2,290,000 results, world fame awaits.

No? Just another empty voice online then.

I’m sorry, I forgot, google search results are now evidence. Blimey! I should have known!
Per your 2,290,000 evidence, the first is an inference…statistically inference, obviously that couldn’t be wrong! The last time I checked, all scientific works are within the limits/error of our understanding and equipment. I’ve always believed that part of my responsibility as a scientist is to accept this limitation. It is why we continue to search, for more accuracy, and understanding. From illodiini’s link, the operative phrase being “repeatedly tested.” For me, the biggest claims of evolution aren’t changes between species, but an interspecies transition. Trying to explain a fossil deposit, coloring in feathers or plant, or some bacteria behavior is all good and well, but it does not satisfy the “repeatedly tested” standard used to assess other established scientific theories. Frankly, I’d like to read one day in Nature, Science, and any other scientific publication that an experiment has been done to verify interspecies evolution. But all we are inundated with every week are “new evidence” that nothing but same old a priori arguments. And people wonder why Physicist look down on Biologist.
Strawmen arguments you say…every solid theory of science is accompanied with a thought out designed experiment to verify claims and hypothetical inferences, however, the beloved evolution can’t be held to such standard. Why is that? I can think of another scientific theory that is based on a priori reasoning to such degree.
Let me give you one. Is transition between species wrt evolution continuous or discrete? What evidences are there to support either path? Because if it is continuous we should be seeing species in mid-transition? And if it is discrete, where are the “spectral lines” of evidence to suggest such? Never mind that any answers to such questions would still need to go through independent testing.

Understanding of Darwinian theory is sufficiently adaptable & evolutive to develop with informed probing, dissection & critique. As for its hysterically emotional cheerleaders & assailants, their comprehension of science & its method (& everything else) will never evolve. More fodder for their mindless Culture Wars.
September 6th, 2019
It’s strange how people think a critical assessment of a scientific theory must only be because of religion or culture war. An understanding of Darwinian theory and any informed probing, dissection, and critique does not amount to “repeatedly tested” proof.
Say climate change for example, the proofs are there and it’s nonsensical for anyone to doubt. Each year there are “repeatedly tested” proofs for anyone to see, but can we expect that from non-hysterically emotional cheerleaders & assailants regard Darwinian theory? Obviously no.

It’s about taking an ideologically comforting approach to factual information. If it does not fit within the parameters of toxic political doctrine, it must be discarded. Sometimes it must also be denigrated by the mob in order to restore reassuring ideological balance.

Oh look the windbag defender of the faith is here :)
Shakespeare ” I forgot, google search results are now evidence.”
A pitiful response. You know the links provided were to Google Scholar
“Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other web sites”
So no cigar for you.
Of course what we’re witnessing, is the desperate attempts of the theocrats here, grasping for anything to invalidate a scientific theory. A scientific theory that is continually supported by a plethora of evidence.
Caligula’s response is beyond laughable.
Denigrating. Mob. Ideological balance? Utter claptrap. I’ll stick with the scientific method, not the forlorn appeal to emotion card, that windbag always plays. Trying to sledge hammer the divine square peg into the round hole of scientific fact.
The world will take note when you, or anyone debunks scientific evolution theory. It’s not going to happen though, as your just howling at the moon.
When are you attending Harvard to inform them they are ” taking an ideologically comforting approach to factual information”, and “comforting the mob” Thought not.

Dynamic, snappy comeback…after more than 24 sleepless, panicky hours, no doubt.
Unfortunately, more “Culture Wars” stoopidity from another halfwit nonentity.
With the best will in the world, I wouldn’t expect a punchdrunk culture warrior like yourself to understand any of this. It’s a species of cruelty to insist that people comprehend information that they’re in no manner capable of grasping. In response, they can become noticeably upset & hysterically emotional - as in the present case.
So, when I condemn the theory’s “hysterically emotional cheerleaders & assailants” - aside from being an uncomprehending cheerleader, you do understand what “assailant” means? How about the word “debunk” cos your usage here is also catastrophically erroneous & inapt?
Or is it the tired old tactic of purposely misconstruing material that’s vastly beyond you & banging your unusually small head against the invented construct?
The scientific method & evidence-based practice in general are clearly not your friends. If I was in the unenviable position of trying to reason with you, or give you legal advice, I would tell you that under no circumstances should you represent yourself. The results are manifestly appalling. Cease & desist your puerile hysterical rants!

Oh hey! It’s our old friend, “argument from personal incredulity!”
Wow, it’s been a while! Days at least!
December 28th, 2019
So far as I can tell, none of you have made any arguements for or against evolution.
