Spoken Arts produced a series of superb renditions of several classic novels. I was only concerned with the horror genre, those are the only ones I listened to. The company is, unfortunately, defunct, and there is virtually zero information about them to be found. Quite frankly, I don’t even know when these stories were made…though I’m guessing the late 60’s or early 70’s.

It took me literally months to track down any information I could in order to reacquire these long lost stories I listened to as a child. Apparently, the master tapes have been absorbed into the Yale University Library, with no plans of releasing them in the foreseeable future. I was able to get my hands on 4 of the 5 stories I was looking for, but only from cassette tapes.

I have transferred the stories to digital, and tried to improve the quality as much as I could from a poor low bias tape source. Although I am loathe to compress any of my material, I have compressed this story to a 320 kbps rate to preserve as much of the sound integrity as possible.

The story I am missing is Frankenstein. If anyone has any information on where or how I can get a copy of this title from Spoken Arts, I urge you to contact me.
