This new series RULES! I’m sorry, but it just does. It imagines a realistic space travelling society that cannot leave the Solar System, but make life exist in the clouds above Venus and underground in Mars and on moons in Saturn.
This is published by B7, which made Blake’s 7 audio dramas with Big Finish. It is not clear if this is in the B7 continuity and doesn’t matter. This is set in the very near future.

Dan Dare and his crew finally return to Earth. Landing in central London, they find the city deserted - or that’s how it seems at first. As work begins to rebuild planet Earth after the devastation of the robot invasion, Dare and his friends in Space Fleet remain vigilant, certain that it is only a matter of time before the Mekon launches a fresh attack. When the wreck of the Nautilus - an experimental ship lost over a decade before - appears in orbit of the moon, Dare, Digby and Peabody are sent to investigate. They find the ship and its crew were destroyed by advanced alien weapons. All clues lead them to Saturn’s moons. With Earth still vulnerable our heroes must journey to an unknown world - to discover who sent the Nautilus back, not realising that for once the source of their latest conflict comes from a lot closer to home. Episode 6 - Prisoners of Space by Colin Brake
After a sequence of near non-stop adventures Dare, Digby and Peabody find themselves in a strange limbo of paranoid calm. Whilst there’s been no sign of the Mekon anywhere in the solar system, Dare is certain Earth hasn’t seen the last of the evil alien. Mysterious spaceship disappearances near Venus, an Academy student accidentally launching a prototype new spacecraft, and a floating prison cell in space… reveal themselves as all part of the Mekon’s latest plan to defeat his arch-enemy Dan Dare once and for all. Is it the wrong picture.?

Thank you for this! When I first listened to the first volume, I was skeptical. I had never heard of Dan Dare, and thought “oh, no, not another comic book adaptation”. I was pleasantly surprised. I know Big Finish puts out quality work, and I wasn’t disappointed after all. I hope this one is as good as the first.

Nope.. I put all the thought into my comment I believe “special” people like you deserve, which isn’t much Mr Brain (that sounds like a bit of a pretense, perhaps Mr Inane would be more fitting don’t you think.? Mr Brain).
I don’t especially support Smythers1977, but I am very appreciative of him & others who post here.
I’ve followed his posts from the start of his activity & I believe he receives an unwarranted & uncalled for amount of abuse for what seems to originate from a misunderstanding over seeding one of his posts & some “special” people started getting their knickers all in a twist because he didn’t seem to pay them enough respect.!
My problem comes from not being able to understand the level of ingratitude & rudeness displayed by some people & the belief that wherever “special” people are found they should be exposed, ridiculed & basically made to look like the horrible people that they are.!
Now.. Judging by your comment I take it that you’re willing placing yourself into that group.
If not, then perhaps you should put a bit more thought into what you type,don’t you think Mr Brain.?
