  Pretty funny, given that it’s Christians who out to convert people, where as those other fellas think they’re “God’s chosen people”, and believe that - as Ovadia Yosef, who had the largest funeral in Israel’s history declared - “gentiles only exist to serve them”.

  And Maimonides, one of Judaism’s most important philosophers taught that Black people were “between apes and men”.

  It should go with out saying, but it’s not Christians who are ethnically cleansing the indigenous people of Palestine.

  It’s so hard to feel good about wielding my white privilege when people like cheezer over there make such cherry picked comments from someone like my boy Maimonides who lived and wrote about a thousand years ago and has a huge corpus of material that was blazingly rational for its time… but no cheezer’s gotta pick one thing and use that like some broad brush to paint the whole of his work as if that’s all the guy ever thought about.

  Where was the supremacy when Jews were stoning Christians to death in the early years or when Jews were supportive of the islamic colonialism in early Spain?
  People should think twice before metaphorically casting the first stone as we can all be criticised for the actions of people long dead. The author shames herself for joining in promoting exclusion and bigotry in the guise of history.

  Paul (Saul of Tarsus) was not Jewish, though Jesus & all of his disciples were. When he was on the road to Damascus, he fell from his donkey, had hallucinations that caused him to embrace the nascent Christianity. Modern neurologists reading of Paul’s “revelations” recognize classic temporal lobe seizures. Paul wanted to expand the teachings of Jesus, still a Jewish rabbi, beyond just the Hebrews to build a religious empire (with himself, of course, at the head), so he undertook an appeal to gentiles by separating the worship of Jesus from its Jewish roots. Then, finally, in the Gospel of John, which Christian scholars agree was written much later - in the latter second century CE, anti-semitism was a major theme. Scholars believe that John was Greek & lived either in Greece or the Greek community in Alexandria, Egypt. He got all of his “holy land” geography wrong, putting towns & cities on the wrong sides of rivers & seas, etc. It was John who converted Jesus from the Son of Man to the Son of God & set the standard for “salvation [John 3:16]”. Since the Hebrew requirements for a messiah included that he be a direct lineal male descendent of King David, both Matthew & Luke went out of their way to trace a direct line of ancestry from David to Joseph - who they still considered Jesus’ father. John made god into both father (or and son (& the “holy ghost” - or was that Casper ;)).

  If you want a good example of Christian tolerance, read the words of Pope Paul III in 1576:

  “I do further promise and declare, that I will, when opportunity presents, make and wage relentless war, secretly or openly, against all heretics, Protestants and Liberals, as I am directed to do and to extirpate and exterminate them from the face of the whole earth, and that I will spare neither sex, age nor condition and that I will hang, waste, boil, flay, strangle and bury alive these infamous heretics; rip up the stomachs and wombs of their women and crush their infants’ heads against the wall [so much for “pro-life”], in order to annihilate forever their execrable race.”

  All in the name of the “Prince of Peace!”

  I will spare you the scores of Martin Luther’s psychotic rants against Jews & Judaism, calling for their enslavement or execution, except to say that Nazi propaganda & rationales were replete with quotes from Luther, who is “credited” by German scholars for creating the bed of anti-semitism that led directly to the Holocaust.

  As for Jews & Blacks, one must look no further back than the 20th century, when Israel recognized the black Ethiopian Falashas as Jewish, organized airlifts to bring them to Israel, granting them citizenship & welcoming them as fellow Jews. The same thing happened more recently when a southern African tribe that had practiced Judaism for millenia, even speaking an ancient version of Hebrew. A geneticist tested them & found that a tenth of them carried the “Kohane” gene - a marker that distinguished the Jewish priestly class (a tenth of ALL Jews carry the same marker). They, too, were welcomed into Israel as Jews & given citizenship. Jews exist in all colors & shades around the world. Saphardic Jews trace their ancestry through Middle-Eastern lines & Ashkenazis through European & Russian lines.

  Jews didn’t stone Christians to death - Romans did. Jews supported the Islamic colonisalism in Spain & Portugal becausee the Ottomans accepted the Jews while the Christians were subjecting them to both the Spanish & Roman inquisitians & had been persecuting them for 1500 years. The Jews found safety from Christians under the Muslims, who at that period in history let everybody in their empire practice his or her own faith - unlike Christians who contiinued to send “Crusades” into Arab countries to massacre the “heretics.” Heck, most of the wars in Europe during 2 millenia were sects of Christians killing other sects of Christians who didn’t have their theology perfectly straight - in each others’ eyes.

  Israel is a case of 75 years of lies & myths having gained the status of “truth.” In November, 1947, the UN, in Resolution 181, declared that Palestine should be partitioned into 6 sections, 3 to go to Jews and 3 to go to Muslims for side-by-side states. Jerusalem was to be declared a neutral “international” zone controlled by the UN & open to all. Both parties had 6 months to agree to this 2-state solution. The Jews immediately did - and, in May 1948, declared the State of Israel under the resolution. The Arab League & the Arab High Committee refused the deal. They wanted ALL of Palestine (which included Jordan - given away by the British to the Hashemite Arabs fleeing from what is now Saudi Arabia after losing a war for control of Arabia in 1922. They still rule Jordan & Jordanian Palestinians live under their rule.

  The Jews offered citizenship to all Muslims who remained in the territory that was to become Israel. The Arab League called on all Arabs/Muslims living in the territory to flee beyond the borders while they invaded the soon-to-be country of Israel & massacred all of the Jews. They said any Muslim who remained in Israel would be slaughtered alongside the Jews. This was the main impetus for the Arab flight from Israel. Local villages were forced to flee by neighboring Jews, primarily because they allowed (or were forced to allow) their villages to be used as staging grounds for fellahin fighters, including some German Nazis who had sought sanctuary there after WW II. The Mufti of Jerusalem, the leading Muslim cleric in Palestine, had spent WW II in Berlin as Hitler’s personal guest while he issued cries to his fellows back home to murder all the Jews. The terrorist group, The Arab Liberation Army (made up of Syrians, Palestinian Arabs, Lebanese, Iraqis, Jordanians, the Muslim Brotherhood, Bosnians, Germans, Turks, & anti-semitic British deserters spent the period from UN Partition to the founding of Israel as terrorists, raping & murdering Jews, particularly in outlying villages in an attempt to convince the Jews to leave & not declare Israel a State. Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan & Lebanon told the Arabs that, after the Jews had been driven into the sea, the Muslims would own ALL of Palestine. They set up refugee camps just outside the borders where they assured Palestinian arabs they’d only have to wait for a matter of days until the slaughter was over. It is interesting that, while half the Muslims fled (or were forced in some cases) Israel, half remained to become citizens. An equal number of Jews were expelled from Arab countries & were welcomed into Israel. The Arab countries, OTOH, accepted an Egyptian order NOT to grant citizenship to any Palestinian refugee (a rule still in place) so most Palestinians had either the refugee camps or trying to retake Israel as their only recourses.

  Both the Jews & Muslims had been granted their own states in peace. The Jews accepted the deal. But the Palestinian Arabs, in a tragic miscalculation, opted to follow the Arab League’s promises of a bloody war to retake ALL of Palestine instead of accepting their own state. They ended up losing that bet when the Israelis held out against the armies of 5 major Arab powers. Since then, they have been paying the price for choosing blood and murder over peace & friendship.

  Saul of Tarsus was born in the city of Tarsus AD 5. No he wasn’t “Greek”. He was born to JEWISH parents who possessed Roman citizenship. In about AD 10 his family moved to Jerusalem. Jerusalem was his boyhood home according to his comments (Acts 22:3).

  Now mind you Saul studied Hebrew Scriptures in the city of Jerusalem under Rabbi Gamaliel. It was under Gamaliel that Saul would begin an in-depth study of the Law.

  It is speculated that he was present for the trial of Stephen who was found guilty and stoned to death by JEWS becoming one of the first followers of Christ to be executed. The historian Luke tells us that Stephen’s executioners laid their garments at the feet of Saul (Acts 7:58), who was in full approval of the mob’s murderous actions (Acts 8:1). Saul later ravaged the church, entering the homes of believers and committing them to prison. Saul’s anti-Christian zeal motivated him not only to arrest and imprison male Christians (the “ringleaders”) but to lock up female believers as well (Acts 8:3).

  Saul was a Jew and a Pharisee. “Pharisee, member of a Jewish religious party that flourished in Palestine during the latter part of the Second Temple period (515 bce–70 ce)”.

  I’d continue but I don’t feel like wasting the evening. Maybe instead of giving a perfunctory answer by scavenging any webpage that agrees with your feels, you actually read a more wide ranging variety of information and actually retain said information. It’ll serve you better in the future.

  Slavery existed in most cultures since the dawn of recorded history. White Christians created the technology that made it mostly obsolete and then led a reformation against slavery in their own countries. Slaves didn’t revolt and win their freedom; it was given to them on the urging of the Christian ideal of the sanctity of life and equality of all men in the image of God.

  What a load of nonsense, this ignores all of the dirty things Judaism says about Christ and their own doings…and to see this when Israel is going nuts today and committing genocide because they believe they are “the special chosen people” and whatever nonsense they regurgitate that sounds like are the new nazis is mind boggling
