Dallis, I am looking for a YA series I read a few years ago that is similar to Riordan, but much more graphic and actually scared me as an adult. It involves a family of mages and the youngest watches his family slaughtered and has to learn the craft really quickly to survive. They travel in between realms and such so it falls between horror/fantasy. I know it’s not much to go on and I can’t even remember a name other than a character known as the Demon King, but you seem the most knowledgeable in the genre cross I’ve seen. Thanks for any lead.
