More than half of American adults and more than seventy-five percent of young Americans believe in intelligent extraterrestrial life. This level of belief rivals that of belief in God. American Cosmic examines the mechanisms at work behind the thriving belief system in extraterrestrial life, a system that is changing and even supplanting traditional religions.
Over the course of a six-year ethnographic study, D.W. Pasulka interviewed successful and influential scientists, professionals, and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who believe in extraterrestrial intelligence, thereby disproving the common misconception that only fringe members of society believe in UFOs. She argues that widespread belief in aliens is due to a number of factors including their ubiquity in modern media like The X-Files, which can influence memory, and the believability lent to that media by the search for planets that might support life. American Cosmic explores the intriguing question of how people interpret unexplainable experiences, and argues that the media is replacing religion as a cultural authority that offers believers answers about non-human intelligent life.

Typical thesis by an anthropologist. People believe in something that I know nothing about, but my peers maintain isn’t legitimate. Let me write a paper about how these people are being fooled into something that I am ignorant about. We can also play around with language to say one thing and make it sound true, even though it isn’t. The Navy flat out admitted that they did, in fact, film objects flying, and don’t know what they were. That is an UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT. However, if we employ that UFO always means “spaceship being piloted by aliens”, we can make anyone who believes in UFOs seem like a nutter.

Anyone who can’t clearly see the Defense Dept deception involved with most of these modern UFO sightings has to be willfully blind or just don’t know any better. I mean come on now the the US military has access to spy satellites so powerful that they can zoom in so close they can see the color of a person’s eyes. And yet they have only managed to visually document these UFOs with some severely grainy, colorless video reminiscent of WW2 footage.
Better yet they claim to allegedly see these things all the time, and still no good evidence lol. Furthermore if there was anything more than a govt disinformation campaign involved with these “UFO’s” you would have some sort of video evidence from the general public. But again this does not exist. ALL the “good” UFO evidence comes from the Pentagon, who the American public rightfully has trust issues with, but sure they’re telling the truth THIS TIME..

Pasulka believes in ufos and believes they have been here for all of human history don’t let these reviews stop you from listening to this book. In this book in particular she talks to a guy Timothy Taylor who first hand deals with crash retrievals believes he downloads information from an outside source and is paid to predict the future.
