@caesar963 William Giraldi is rather odd character, for example in one essay he demonstrates high level expertise and understanding of the literary field, in another he suddenly goes after the NRA (as if the NRA killed the victims of the particular shooting he was referring to at the time) and demonstrates ignorance in another field, if not political correctness compliance etc.

Highly appreciate the upload. Giraldi seems persuasive on both literary and politics-adjacent issues. In the case of the NRA, which seems beset by a host of disturbing internal issues, Giraldi’s simply voicing the frustrations and feelings of powerlessness held by parents in the era of mass school shootings.

Sadly, “voicing the frustrations and feelings” of that nature is not as harmless as one might think, it comes too close for comfort to progressive mantra “whatever I feel is true”, if not mimics it precisely.
Taking guns away from law-abiding citizens is akin to taking away their cars because some individuals are caught DUI (drunk driving), or taking away individual fire extinguishers because…, that sort of thing, it’s not exactly news. Also not news how many lives the law-abiding people with guns actually SAVE, even though the facts and statistics rarely make headlines. Not to mention that historically there’s always the next phase after “with best intentions, government disarmed the population”.
It beats me why William Giraldi seemingly cannot fathom the above logic, it’s not a rocket science. Unless, of course, his “outrage” is totally and cynically fake (and why not, stranger things have happened).
